For anyone who cant get a hold of any sanitizing gel, are there any alternatives.
For instance is lemon juice any good ?

Any other useful tips to share, ie make-shift face mask, fashioned from scarf ?

Soap and water is just as good if you are indoors.
Yep...soap and water.

I have dettol wipes. If out and about I'd use one of those to open doors etc.
Aloe vera (from health food shops or chemists) and add any alcoholic spirit like vodka or gin as antibacterial handgel has a high alcohol content.
^^No...wrong. Alcoholic spirits are typically only 37 to 40% alcohol by volume. Sanitising gel needs to be at least 60% (preferably 70%) alcohol.
We need to legalise poteen :-)
You could try some baby wipes on your hands.
I made mine with surgical spirit, aloe vera gel and some essential oil for fragrance. Got the aloe vera gel in Holland and Barrett which was about £6 (Body Shop wanted £15 for theirs)
Baby wipes? No good at all...they contain no alcohol at all, mainly water and oily materials.
I ordered some isopropyl rubbing alcohol 70% from ebay, you mix 2 thirds of it with 1 third aloe vera gel and shake well.I havn't been able to buy any hand gel in our town since this started.
