Vulnerable People Letter

A close relative suffers from Ulcerative Collitis..Asthma and Angina.

She hasn't recieved a letter that went out to people considered vulnerable.

I've looked everywhere I can think off to find what she needs to do to be on that register.

The surgery say it was sent via the NHS and nothing to do with them..

Does anyone know where I might find the info, without ringing the NHS who are inundated as we all know.

I received a text on 23rd March from NHS Coronavirus Service, saying I have identified as someone at risk of severe illness if I catch Coronavirus.

It then goes on to say, "Please stay at home for a minimum of 12 weeks". There's a lot more to the text (and a further 3 texts) but that's the gist of it.

I have chronic eosinophlic asthma. I had my letter about a week ago. I also had a text prior to that. Maybe they did the lung complaints first, as they are perhaps the most likely to get complications. I have also had a text warning not to use my emergency steroids if I get ill, as they can worsen the effects of coronavirus.

Thank you for all the helpful replies.

My husband had his last week. It's my sister who hasn't received one even tho she has multiple serious health issues.
We understand it coukd be useful for getting delivery slots, possibly other things, I don't know.

It's no good waiting til its needed as it might be to late.
This virus is about to explode by the sound of it.

I have a relative who has it..fortunately no underlying health problems..its still extremely nasty. The 2 week isolation isn't enough in this case.. she feels she getting better then wham its back again.

I got the letter too (I live in Northern Ireland). It appeared to have been sent by my local medical centre, and stated that the doctors there had identified me as a person who was in a high risk category for hospital admission if I catch the virus, and advised me to stay in the house and not go out even to collect prescriptions, which they said would be delivered by my named pharmacy. That was the only concession the letter mentioned. When I rang the pharmacy to let them know that I had received the letter, they said they already knew because the medical centre had passed to them the list of people who had received them. I don't know if the system is the same in England, Scotland or Wales.

I was worried because I had not received a letter but got one this morning , lot of letters to be sent out I suppose.

Ringlet, Ocado and Waitrose are only doing deliveries to people on the very vulnerable list. I belive that Sainsburys are giving them priority for delivery slots. The government food parcel scheme which is just starting is also I think starting with the people who should be shielding at home. Look on your local council website and the grocery delivery websites for details. I am not clear on the details because I am not in that category.
