Why don't we get bruises on the palms of our hands?

I am just guessing, but if bruising is bleeding under the skin- look at your hands! There are only timy weeny thin veins. I did actually bruise the flabby bit of my thumb /hand once, and if you look, that bit does actually have veins which you could damage. Just guessing though.

Your palms and the soles of your feet are covered in really thick skin, compared to the rest of your body, so it is much harder to break the blood vessels immediately below the skin's surface there. I've had a bruised palm on the bit nearest the side of my hand, a shelf unit landed on it, nearly broke my bones too!

You do get bruises on the palms of your hands if you press or bang hard enough. I have got one after pushing up those ladders with three sections.

I've had bruises on the palms of both hands. I fell over & tried to stop myself, my hands hit the floor first - it was extremely painful too.
