Hi, I've had a dry mouth/thirst & metallic taste in my mouth for 2 months now. It started when I noticed my Inner Top lip had gone a funny colour(only way to explain is it looks like bacon when it's going off!) Went to docs & said it could be my B12 so had blood test but came back ok? Also went to my hygienist & she said everything looks Ok but mouth very dry. I rang & spoke to doc again & said that I Googled my problem & that it could be the vitamin D am taking which I started 2.5 months ago but he didn't seem to think this yet here I am still with this problem. Just wondering if anyone on here has had this?

Thanks

What an interesting problem........
I am not sure that it would a very informative looking on AB for an answer to your problem, but if I can help then I will try.
Firstly this has nothing to do with vitamin deficiencies, neither is it a big deal when one considers the whole picture.
You have ot mentioned any medications that you are taking which could be a factor.
It is almost certainly a viral infection affecting a nerve that runs through the middle ear called the chorda tympani which is a branch of a bigger nerve to the to the face. The nerve supply to your face and mouth depends to a greater extent and causes your symptoms.
What can you do about it? Nothing.
you learn everyday. I also thought some medications can leave a very dry mouth too
sorry Sqad - didn't see you mentioned the meds
I had this when I had coronavirus, dry mouth (insanely dry at times) always need to keep water close by, red lips, metallic taste

Well I never Squad. What I didn't mention is my calves and left side of head have a funny feeling like something crawling over them? The only meds I take is Betablockefs which I have been taking for 7 years and vitamin D which I started just over 2 months ago and now stopped. Thanks for your help and in the meantime going to speak with doctor again. Purist, I will mention what you have said too thanks.
