Which is probably depressingly true but why do I look so much older in a photo than when I look at myself in a mirror ?!!

The Zoom video-conferencing software has a video option Touch up my appearance but it doesn't seem to make any difference when I try it ;-(
All of this pretending to be something one is not has resulted an many, many Constable Odo lookalikes.
Go on. Who is Constable Odo?
Spicerack ,he's usually spaced-out, Constable Odo, that is.
I still wonder who the grey haired old lady is, but the lines were earned by living and laughing I might still wish just once to see a beauty but it ain't gonna happen.
I avoid all mirrors larger than handbag size and am also adept at avoiding other peoples cameras....himself is no longer startled to see me bending my knees in a wedding photo lineup....suddenly I will have shrunk a good 12 inches and my face is below those in front of me shoulder height. Often wondered why I dislike my looks so much.
Cameras didn't lie until photoshop arrived.
You were as ugly as you thought you were, but now beauty is only a click away.
I'm glad to hear that others feel the same as me! I've long wondered why my reflection in the bathroom mirror after doing hair and make up is vastly different to having a photo taken after said hair and make up, and where did that double chin come from ?? I absolutely refuse to have my photo taken now!
Hope the double chin didn't come from Santa,
I don't want one, I'll be lighting a fire come Christmas!
I'm fabulously looking darling , if you catch my good side
How far does one have to chase your good side Baz?
Doubt a cameraperson would have the stamina to catch mine.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so its said.
Yes, piggy. There's a boot for every foot.

But is it the camera or the mirror that is lying?
I suppose photos don't show character. Once you know someone well, even if not particularly attractive, they can appear attractive. A lot of it is expression. Miserable looking people with zilch personality but perfect features look great in photos but not so good in real life. When I look in a mirror (which isn't often)I look at all my flaws, see an old lady looking like my mother and quickly stop looking.
I spent a lot of money on an outfit for my daughters graduation and I thought I looked ok but when we got the pictures back I looked awful :( So in future I will take a picture of myself before I leave the house to see what I really look like and can make adjustments :)
