Sitting down on the settee in the early hours of this morning with foot rest up
Became aware of the fact that I was trying to move to get up , but couldn't move ,even though I was concious , trying to move , but couldn't , as if something was preventing me from getting up
You were probably under the control of extra-terrestrial aliens! I've never had it lying on the sofa, but I have had occasional dreams which I knew to be dreams and wanted to wake up from, but had to make a tremendous effort to be able to move; I always managed in the end.
Yep, used to get it frequently, especially if I woke up early and then went back to sleep but not deeply.
It’s awful, I couldn’t breath or move.
Haven’t had it for a good few years now.
It is horrid. I try to scream but no sound comes out. Can't move my arms or legs but can move my head. I become aware of what is happening and slow my breathing and usually go back in to a normal sleep.
I used to suffer from SP on a regular basis when I was 'coming down' from drinking bouts - 3 or 4 days on the booze. I also suffered from the 'heeby-jeebies' (or as I called it, 'nightmare city') which I now know to be hypnagogic hallucinations. Thankfully not had an episode since I gave up the 'over-enthusiastic' boozing sessions. A half bottle of Martell is about my limit, these days.
I get spells of this on occasions. I get them less frequently now, since I decided to confront the entity and tell it, it can't harm me.
The last time I experienced this was the other night when all I remember was shouting "get out" as I threw the TV's remote control across the room. This too happened after falling asleep in my recliner chair.
