Ok, I know I post lots of daft stuff but this is serious and I really need your lovely people advice.
So, I may or may not have mentioned that I have had this awful pain in my right leg for weeks and weeks, if not months now. I can only describe it as a deep, internal pain, going from hip, through thigh all way down to knee. Leg looks fine, doesn’t hurt to touch whatsoever, but like I said it’s an ‘internal throbbing pain’ to the point that I almost feel sick- I can’t cope with it much longer. I haven’t fallen, tripped, I’m not over weight - far from it. I’ve not done anything at all. Yes I’ve rang my doctor, but due to Covid appointments are a no no - everything is a ‘telephone consultation’. He just gave me these daft exercises to do daily, which I’ve done but haven’t made any difference at all.
I’m pretty good with pain but I’m honestly struggling now - it’s just this deep throbbing pulsating pain and I just don’t know what to do. Pls any suggestions as to what it might be would be very very appreciated right now x
My first thought was Deep Vein Thrombosis. My doctor missed it when he checked but a Doppler scan in hospital revealed a clot behind the knee. Very painful. A lengthy course of blood-thinning injections dispersed the clot and I am now on a reduced, ' maintenance' dose of Redoxaban ( 1x60mg) daily. Please get it check out, and good luck.
Deep vein thrombosis is the LAST thing that comes to y mind based on your description of the pain.
I agree that it does sound like sciatica and if it is then an N
MRI Scan is required to exclude aslipped disc.
I would get recommendations for a decent osteopath in your area.
I had a fall in November and have had periods of pain when I didn’t know whether to vomit or faint!
I am slowly but very surely improving. Use cocodamol rarely now.
I had sciatica for many months but, after an appointment with the physiotherapist, I was given a personal exercise program and, after a few weeks, the pain was gone.
Have been going through similar for a while. Scans MRI negative. Seeing a neurophysiotherapist. Amazing difference. Exercises and deep massage. It’s a long haul
Pain has rapidly got worse over night to the point I’ve not slept a wink and have been in tears. Have just rang doctor again as I just can’t cope with this much more. It’s telephone consultations only at the mo so she is going to call me back as soon as she can. Don’t know what she will suggest. Mr Smow is telling me to go to A & E but just want to see what she says first..... painkillers are just making me feel sick now and they aren’t helping at all anyway.
//She suspects it might poss be osteo arthritis?//
osteoarthritis of what? if you are in that much pain despite all the painkillers you are supposed to be taking then I would get yourself down to A&E right now. -you'll get an X-ray straight away!
I would guess,lumbosacral spine.
I would also suggest A&E as it does sound like a slipped disc, but as you have started the ball rolling with youGP,then you must follow that route, although I use say that I cannot see how an ordinary X-ray will help in the diagnosis.
Smow I would insist on an MRI scan, X-Rays are really good for diagnosing broken and cracked bones but you really do need an MRI scan. If the NHS refuse you can get one privately for around £750 and subsequently get treatment by the NHS
