Little Tigs has had a sore throat all day and now has a temperature. I've given him some Calpol so hopefully this brings his temperature down.

He doesn't have a cough but I am quite concerned and also he's been at school all week. He was due to get a nasal flu vaccine at school on Monday.

I've tried getting a covid test online but these are still not available. Don't know what else to do. Hope its nothing more than a cold.

//Is that different to online, Cloverjo?//

I ordered two home test kits online a few weeks ago and got them straightaway. There seems to be none available now, which is a bit useless as it’s basically a cotton bud and test tube.
Where’s the joined up thinking in this gov?

I asked him if any of his classmates had been ill and he said no.

Something is going wrong and there is a lack of clarity, but aren't there also people in the NHS, PHE, PHS, labs, Sir Patrick Newton, Dido Harding,,, paid to do this testing? I'm not sure why it's always seen as the government's fault. Yes the buck stops with them but maybe we should all take some blame as country- we just seem inefficient and bureaucratic. perhaps we should let private operators like Amazon or Starbucks or Bill Gates into the market - let them charge/claim £30 a test or whatever
cloverjo, its the same problem with home testing as with all the other ways to get a test, its not kits that are the issue, its lab processing capacity.
Hope little tigs is feeling better. I am puzzled tho as to where the cold germs have been lurking during lockdown.

He seems better today, Puzzled. Last night his temp was 37.8 and the thermometer lit up red. This morning it was 37.4 and green. He'll probably have a sore throat for a couple of days but at least his temperature is down.
Tigger I hope your little man is feeling better today. don't stress over a test -whatever he has, covid or not, he should not be at school. 37.5 is not really a fever, in my opinion, just a bit hot. Anything over 38.5 would start to worry me but I know everyone is different. When I had Covid my temperature was 40.1 at its highest, brought down only to 38.5 by paracetamol. Keep up with the Calpol and make sure he's got loose fitting clothing on and put a few wet wipes in the fridge so you can cool him down when he starts to feel hot.

He did some maths homelearning this morning so all seems back to normal :o)

Cheers APG and everyone xx
hi Tigger. Same here - miss nobs has had the sniffles for 2 days, and yesterday also started coughing with it. they say a continuous cough is more than 3 "coughing episodes" in an hour. what if you only cough 4-5 times each time - is that an "episode"?
Anyway, she also has a temp, so i went on the site to see about test availability - no slots or home tests available. However, if you answer "no" to if you have access to a car, suddenly they can send you a test!

Hi Bednobs, I tried several times with 'no' to car but kept getting 'sorry, no tests available at this time, try again in a few hours'.

Also, I have no idea what constitutes as a 'coughing episode'. Your guess is as good as mine! Lol
