I have been prescribed Vitamin D tablets and it just says take with plenty of water.
Half a glass of water and a cup of tea chaser!
Half a glass will do...tumbler size.

Thank you sqad and everyone else for the answers.
I'm wondering why plenty of water.
It's good to take vitamin D with a meal that contains fat as it's a fat soluble vitamin.
Odd! My Vitamin D tablets say that they should be taken 'with food', with no mention of liquids at all!

Many vitamins can only be absorbed by the body in the presence of fats, which is why 'with food' commonly appears on the instructions for taking supplements. I'd just take them with whatever drink I was having with a meal, be that a cup of tea, a mug of coffee or a pint of beer ;-)

Thanks for the advice.
Some vitamin D supplements ARE water soluble so I would assume they are the type that you are taking.
Got a link sqad?
I've always seen vitamin D described as a fat soluble vitamin, unless you mean effervescent tablets. I wonder if they are as effective?
^^^ Sqad appears to be referring to micellized Vitamin D but that, by the nature of the process that produces it, is always delivered in the form of a liquid, not as a tablet.
My GP has a sign in the surgery, half a pint is recommended.
No pasta,I don't do links.
No not effervescent.
Some tablets have a coating which that they can be absorbed higher up in the GI tract.
Being fat soluble really outlines the fact that they are stored 8n body fat waiting to be used up.
I don't know which type he is taking but as water was mentioned then one must assume it was the coated type, soluble in water.
if anyone want to know the fat soluble vitamins
ADEK
easily pronounceable - the rest are water soluble
from my pharm course 1971
I've missed 2 goals
My vitamins are hard tablets, are the gel ones better???
Just seen your answer sqad...its exactly what I came up with.
Goodness...I got a link from sqad! I feel honoured.
Sorry about the goals...x

Sharon, yes...gel capsules are said to be better. The vitamin d is supplied in some type of vegetable oil.
