Who's your hero?
In light of the recent question, who is the person you most admire, famous or otherwise. Or both.
For me it would be my mum, who has had in turns amazing experiences but also a rather harsh life but has come through all the strife to be the friendliest woman you'll ever meet and exceptionally strong emotionally.
Famous, probably David Attenbourgh, I just think he's the most amazing person, he seems friendly, passionate about his interests and extremely knowledgable. He might not have created the cure to anything, or invented an indispensible item, but he's keep adults and kids enthralled with amazing documentaries and pretty much single handedly earned Britain the badge of 'a nation of animal lovers'.

I remeber times she went without, so we could eat, our clothes came from charity, as did our toys, we also had free school meals, and because she was much loved by our neighbours, they all rallied round to help as much as she would allow, she made sure us kids never went without, or were left out of things.
AS for a celebrity, it has to Roy Castle or David Jason, if for nothing else other than neither of them has ever had a whiff of scandal attached to them, making then good role models for people to look up to.
Chessman - I could really relate to your unpbringing, apart from your Dad being ill, bless him!
I would nominate our late Mum who nurtured & adored all us ten children. We were never hungry, always clean & well cared for. I would also nominate our late Dad for keeping us amused with his piano accordian playing, pulling funny faces & making us roar with laughter. We all soldiered on to be succesful in working & personal lives.
