Somebody told me that if you were allergic to penicilin you would not be able to have the vaccination. Is this true ?

Have you had a recent test for the penicillin allergy?

No
I'm allergic to penicillin too, so I checked. Apparently it may affect you if you are susceptible to anaphylaxis reactions, so for us its OK.
The GP or whoever is doing the jabs will ask about allergies and check your records if in doubt before going ahead with the jab. So best just to turn up.
i am allergic to penicillin too, no one has mentioned it to me at the surgery assume that when its my turn it will be duly noted.
No,not true.
I was reading that about 10% of folk in the UK are said to have an allergy to penicillin (me included) but only about 5% of us actually have a true allergy to it.
Corby ^^^
I would agree with your post.

Thank you all - very relieved
My relative is allergic to penicilin and had the jab this time last week. No adverse effects at all.
I have been advised due to my severe allergy to penicillin not to have the Pfizer jab
Have you had a recent test for the penicillin allergy?
By whom Martin?

My relative had the Pfizer jab last week. All fine.
My gp, corby is that to me?
I go for no too

Fair enough if the GP suggested you avoid it Martin, but as I say, my relative mentioned the allergy at the outset, and the vaccine was deemed appropriate. Indeed it was and no side effects other than that a slight tiredness the following day which I think many people experience.
all the NO advice is personal to one patient

it should not be appied to others, their dogs, the guinea pig and farm animals - no matter what people think of their muvvuz in law
ter daah !
ba to maydup

yes corbo - around 80% who treasure and cosset their pen allergy arent - and you can measure the harm they do to themselves by demanding and using the second line droogz with less effect

this has been known since at least the 1970s
MM, yes, the allergy might be noted in your records but when was the last time you were tested for it?

As well as reading that only about 5% of those said to have the allergy actually had it, I also read the reactions decrease over a period of years.
I had an anaphylactic reaction to penicillin earlier last year Corby
