Covid Vaccine

Hi all.
I'm really hoping someone can advise me on the covid vaccine.
My mum who's seventy as been called from the doctors to have hers.
My mum is absolutely terrified, she had the flu jab once and reacted so badly to it (really ill, sick for two weeks, hallucinating and literally couldn't leave her bed for two weeks) we had the doctors out numerous times and were told she wouldn't be able to have the flu jab again for the rest of life.
Obviously cos that was such an horrendous experience she's literally terrified of having the covid injection but also the doctor as said they cant say whether or not she'll have a similar experience with the covid one.
Can anymore PLEASE tell me of their experiences with it?
Also been told this injection does have a small amount of covid in it.
Any advice at all or experiences would be gratefully accepted x

I agree, no side effects with the AZ vaccine, not even a sore arm.
However, this story is just breaking, and I don't know its significance:
AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine should not be given to people over the age of 65, Germany's vaccine committee has said, citing a lack of sufficient data to recommend use in older age groups.
"There are currently insufficient data available to assess the vaccine efficacy from 65 years of age," the committee said in the resolution made available by the German health ministry on Thursday.
"The AstraZeneca vaccine, unlike the mRNA vaccines, should only be offered to people aged 18-64 years at each stage."

Its difficult to know how to reassure her really. 100 people can tell you thatthey had no adverse effects after the Covid Jan, but the same people probably had no adverse effects to the flu jab. I had a tired, cold, head achy day after my flu jab, Mum had the same after her Covid Jab. Nothing more than 24 hrs, mind you but we seem to be similar to each other while OH has had no reaction to either.
My only suggestion is for her to make a telephone appointment with the GP to discuss it. She might be right to be nervous and best to avoid the vaccine, alternatively, the GP might be able to explain to her why the two are unconnected and she has nothing to fear.

My wife (65) had the AZ vaccination on 15 Jan 2021 as she works in a GP surgery and is heavily involved in their vaccination program.
She was tested on 21 Jan 2021 and it came back negative.
She was tested again on 25 Jan 2021 and it came back positive. She is now self-isolating for 10 days. She has no symptoms and the GP's theory is that the vaccine has at least dealt with those.
So our view is the vaccine doesn't stop you getting the virus but it increases the ability to survive it.

woofo, Olds are worried about the vaccine, and ethnic olds are even more worried. I said about the questionnaire - "5 no's and no 5 yes Rivarox." and the doctor explained she had previously spent MUCH longer on the pros and cons
and I said "I worked at Porton Down - this vaccine is very very important"
I regard vaccine refusal on a par with walking out onto a road without looking and before the green light and beeps go beep
and refusing the vaccie and getting covid is more like Russian Rouletter

Really these sort of queries should be asked to your GP and you should'nt rely on the thoughts of strangers on a website altho some on here like sqad, woofgang and theprof are excellent and antivaxxers are underrpresented on here altho we do have at least one

They first said that two or three days ago when it was first realised they were unlikely to get much of it. It may change now as it seems very likely that Boris has caved in and much of the stuff we ordered will end up in the arms of our "friends" in the EU:

yeah I didnt understand that - UK has vaccinated is it 5m over 60s and so there must be large data about whether it works or not
oh but that is not the data we want, converts it more into a political wrangle
