Whilst it is true that we get our diseases from other animals, it has very little do do with deforestation.
We deliberately domesticated animals thousands of years ago so we didn’t have to go out and do hard work hunting them. So as we lived with pigs, and birds and cattle, so we got their diseases. In the west we have largely industrialised farming, so we no longer dwell in the same rooms as our animals. But places like China and the far east still have peasant farmers who still do.
It is no coincidence that covid and swine flu originate there.
Covid came from bats that live in caves, not palm trees.
Chomping down trees does a lot of harm, but it is not creating more risk of pandemics.
