Mil Has Had Bad Reaction To Vaccine...

FIL just rang. She’s very fit and healthy, aged 68, they both had jab yesterday. She now has temperature , sweating, just like flu basically. She never ever goes to bed I’ll so this is so out of character. Anything to worry about??

I believe this is one of the side effects that could happen ( in the leaflet you get) only lasts up to 36 hours
I must say she's very lucky at 68 and healthy to have been given it, I'm 74 and haven't heard yet

No,this in my opinion happens more than appreciated particularly with the Astrazeneca vaccine.
Ibuprofen or paracetamol and it should be settled by the weekend.

Had similar reactions, lasted about 24hrs, included a headache as well. All fine now.

The possible side effects of the vacination are just as you describe, she'll be fine in 24hrs.

Normal, checked on 91 year old neighbour, he was in a bad way with exactly those symptoms, popped back to check 2 days later and he was back to his normal self.

I had very similar reactions but was fine after 24 hours. I can't help but wonder if the second jab will affect me the same way or will my body "accept" it a bit better.

Well I heard that if you have had the flu jab the covid 19 vaccine is supposed to work well with your system.

I was fine (but very tired) for a couple of days and then had what seemed like a mild flu and also a very upset stomach (but that last symptom is usual for me when I am ill with anything). Apparently symptoms can take up to three or four days after the jab. I am 73. I didn't worry at all. OH was fine. It is quite common to have flu like symptoms after a vacccination jab.

those are recognised symptoms but "mild ones". (If she's really got flu, the usual test is that if there was a £50 note lying next to the bed she wouldn't pick it up.)

How come she's 68 fit and healthy and got the vaccine? She would be in Group 5, I'm in group 4 (clinically extremely vulnerable) and not been offered it yet, and I know people in group 3 not been offered it.

just some sort of postcode lottery I think, APG. To do with which places get deliveries and how much they get. Our locl hospital got 1000 Pfizer vaccnies in but ran out during the week. Next week they got some AZ in...

it is postcode lottery a bit. All group 4's are scheduled to be offered one by mid feb and areas who have completed their group 4's are allowed to move to group 5's

This is described in the information leaflet that should have been given - normal reaction for some people. I took paracetamol just in case of any reaction and had nothing other than a slightly woozy feeling yesterday the day after the jab. I am 66 but was given the jab as I am a support worker to disabled, and cannot work until all our staff and clients have been vaccinated.

Reading this it has made me wonder whether you should expect a possible reaction after the second jab or is it just from the first - anyone had both jabs yet?

Agree with APG , I too wonder if London perhaps has had some extra vaccines sent south to them? They were complaining of a south / North divide not so long ago ? The North were on target and more administering the vaccines, 68 is young and especially being healthy
