Resentful, Guilt, & Other Negative Emotions
39 Answers
Ive spent the last couple of weeks experiencing the above.
Why?
I am only one of BILLIONS of people (or lifeforms) that have popped by to say hello to planet Earth.
A brief spark, in the great scheme of things.
Others experience much worse.
Others experience much better.
Am I any different from a zebra that gets munched on by a lion?
Why are my emotions any different from an effing alligator?
Because half the time I dont feel any.
Apart from the fact that I can use a keyboard?

Do not try and compare yourself to zebras or other people. Do not also try and ascertain how others might feel - whether they be carers, non-carers or aligators. There is no comparison. Your feelings are yours and yours alone. No one can say they are right or wrong. Your feelings are your feelings and there is not one person who can judge you for them. And might I say, you ought to stop judging yourself for them.

I think Burns said it very well in his poem "To a Mouse". We have memories and are (usually) forward looking unlike many animals.
Still thou are blest, compared wi’ me!
The present only toucheth thee:
But Och! I backward cast my e’e,
On prospects drear!
An’ forward, tho’ I cannot see,
I guess an’ fear!
We live in strange times nailit.

This poem might help. It comforts me, in times of distress.
It's the thinking that does it!
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
