Covid Antibodies

I have had my first vaccination. If I now had a Covid test, would the result show up as positive? I am not planning to have one but I am just curious.

Not a swab test, though it would (after (say) 2 weeks when your body's immune response has kicked in) show up if you had an antibody (blood) test

Although theres no covid in the vaccinne so am not sure why if you didnt have covid it could show positive?

As far as I understand you can still get covid even after you have the vaccine. If you catch it within 2-3 weeks after the vax the antibodies may not have had enough time to develop so the symptoms may be severe. After around 3 weeks if you catch it the antibodies should offer some protection against severe symptoms. Therefore there is a possibility you can still test positive for covid after the antibodies are present but they will help fight off the virus.

Yes thats right tiggerblue, but a think MGW is not talking about catching covid , the question was whether the fvt that youve had a vaccinnation would mean youd get a posative result if tested (antigen test) for the virus

Not an answer to your question but I'm curious as to why people have tests? If it's in order to be able to go to work or school I can understand, but why do others?

I had one, to go to work, but that didn't actually make a difference. I'm sure though, most people would at least be interested in whether they have it or not?

1) to see if they have the disease.
2)to see if they have immunity tother disease.
3)to see if they are carriers of the virus.

The swab test is infinitely more unpleasant than the vaccine.

Squad, I'm aware that a test will answer 1) not sure if it will answer 2) and if you have it, then you know you are 3)

I've had all the symptoms, at various times in the last twelve months but have never even thought about having a test, as I couldn't see the point. If I'd had a test what difference would it have made?

Bluemoon, because if you get a positive test, you have to isolate for 10 days and can tell anyone you've been in contact with. You wouldn't be going to the shops, or anywhere. Plus, if you know you've had it, you will have some immunity.

If you had had the test bluemoon and it was positive then you would have to isolate for 10 days as would your direct contacts,.
If you were negative, you wouldn't.
