Covid And The Churches

We constantly hear about the impact of Covid on everything from tattoo parlors to holiday camps but have heard nothing about the churches. The impact on mine, for example, is huge and I've no idea how we're going to recover. The irreligious should feel no burning need to comment.

Sticky. Would be nice if, just once, those of us who attend churches could communicate without the attendant bile.

Churches will recover - I don't think you need have any fears about that. I'm more concerned about other, more essential businesses ... you know those that keep the economy buoyant and keep people in jobs.

I'm not a churchgoer myself, but am a believer.
I think the church leadership have not made very wise decisions in closing the churches, and given poor attendences anyway in many churches, social distancing should never have been a problem.
If ever there was a time for people to get together for prayer it is surely now?
But Covid aside, world events are momentous, especially in the middle east, where Israel is literally on the brink of war.
Lessons from scripture and prayer should be the order of the day.

I believe churches closed on government guidelines - along with all other non-essential shops and services.

churches were associated with spread very early on
and the archbish of C called it a day on health grounds

when the followers said - how shall we pray lord
and the lord said Our Father....

he didnt add - and you have to do it in a church
and either me or my dad will hold a roll call so you have better watch out !

Churches have embraced technology and though that doesn't solve everything people are still doing all they can within parishes to support each other.

The Catholic Church here is appealing to the government to allow services to begin again. That's despite the damage they did last year. I guess they need to top up their coffers.
I've been aware, since moving here, that the Catholic Church is losing its hold on the people of Ireland. Very much losing its hold. That is so good.

Reading today the anger from people that the churches think they should be allowed to open because they are somehow special had pleased me enormously.

However, just in case they are allowed to open, I have investigated what I need to do in Ireland to start my own religion with a place of worship. Should that happen our house will become known as the Holy Church of the Newt. :-)
