Confused With Vaccine Eligibility

On the NHS website it says from 60 and over however, on the BBC news website it's 50-59 end Feb - mid Apr.

I now qualify for the 50-59 bracket but can't book through NHS website unless I'm a key worker or carer etc. Back on school runs from Monday so risk is slightly higher for me as an 'older' parent.

You have to wait to be called rather than book it yourself. Your GP surgery will probably contact you.

I think it varies from area to area perhaps depending on the uptake. You'll be contacted when it's your turn.

I think some areas are further ahead than others, you will have to go by the NHS website as they run the booking system. If your area is ahead of the game you could get a call from your surgery with an appointment.

i would give them a call to be honest, they can only say wait to be contacted or maybe give you an appointment then and there.

tigger, I am in the same age bracket as you, and had my jab nearly two weeks ago (the fizzy one). I live on The Wirral, my doctor's called me to ask did I want to go on the shortlist for calls at the end of the day (so as not to waste the vaccines). Unfortunately when I got the call I couldn't attend. The following day they called to book me in on a Saturday. I do think it depends on what area you live in, and how efficient they are in getting through the lists. Maybe you should ring your doctor and ask about the last minute availability slots, but you have to be able to get there as soon as they say?

London appears to be behind the rest of the country. On 12 February (the date I had mine in the 65-70 group) BBC news reported:
'London also lagged behind among 75-79 year olds, vaccinating 83% compared to more than 95% in all other regions.'

London is lagging behind the rest of the country, it does seem as though some people are not going for their vaccinations when they get called. Some misinformation perhaps, suspicion from some of what this medicine does.

ubasses, that lower figure might be due to the reluctance of the large BAME community to be vaccinated.

Cheers all, will call surgery and keep fingers crossed. My area has a dense BAME community and the low uptake is possibly one of the reasons for lagging.

Had my first one Wednesday evening, because I care for a vulnerable person, even though I had a time slot, still had to queue for an hour.

GP surgeries have been in the news pleading with people NOT to call about the vaccine. They've enough to do organising it. Suggest you look at your surgery's website tiggerblue.

xc in those areas where you have to volunteer

I dont think anyone knows on this site BUT - watch your local media as some areas are just saying when there is vacca left over - just roll up!

The NHS website is a more reliable source than the BBC. On the nhs you can only book once your in the stated age category unless your in the most vunerable group. Some areas are ahead and will contact you by text or phone or letter when you can arrange an appointment.

I also qualify as a key worker according to our HR but as I've been working from home I didn't feel it right or fair to use this route. But now due to the school runs I wish I had done.

tigger you still can if you are still a keyworker. As I understand it, once a group has been invited they stay invited.

Got the letter saying i could book at one of the centres or wait for my GP to contact me. Member of the family told me they had tried the GP but they were 'chock-a-block' with appointments. So i booked both my jabs through the nearest vaccination centre - Sun 7 Mar and Sun 23 May.

Keyworkwrs aren't all entitled to jump the queue. Shop workers, finance staff's, boss drivers , police, food manufacturer's, teachers etc are key workers but get no priority. only nhs staff and care workers or there households get priority. Your HR dept may be wrong. whats yourjob tiggerblue?
