Like a lot of people I’ve put quite a bit weight on over the last year, probably heavier now than I’ve ever been, this morning after my shower I decided to take my BP and after taking it 3 times to get a average reading, it was 163/80 , I’ve rank my surgery and was told I’d get a call back sometime during the day which is the way it is just now, at 74, 75 come November , I’ve never taken any meds for anything and have considered this to be very lucky for me but I must admit , this has given me a wake up call, I’ve got no symptoms like dizziness etc

After a seven-day run I would be close to death, let alone have a high blood pressure...
Question Author
haha, well that cheered me up Corby x
In my experience a well-watered (red wine) evening meal will promote lower pressure when you remember to take it later that evening.

an update from my GP practice, I have to monitor my BP over the next 4 days (one at am and one at pm) write the readings down and give them to the nurse who'll ring me , then go in to have some bloods taken to establish if I need meds at all, basically it's what Sqad and Calmk said
Thanks all for the advice
Thanks for the feedback.
and what bednobs said (First!)
True bednobs......well played my love...?..-;)
Decrease the salt.
Increase your exercise.
Talking about food and eating, I miss posts from that ABer whose username I have forgotten from N.Ireland, the one who had the gastric surgery....she used to be redhelen, fried onions among other names.
Is she OK?
Oops! Wrong thread .
also known as friedgreen tomatoes sqad. she hasn't posted for a long while as Red Helen...
Sqad - she's fine.
Give her my regards.

Apologies Bednobs , I don’t deliberately leave someone out who’s given me constructive help,
She did bednobs, she did it on purpose. Lol

There’s a BA for you Sqad ,for stirring it :0))
I would have thought , a 24 hour BP monitor
would be appropriate as well .

It takes readings at set intervals during the day -and night when you're asleep
