Just been to the optician who said I have a cyst on the white of my eye and this has caused me to have a dry eye.
We have some drops for that, that will be £13.99 thank you.
I asked if I could get it on prescription from my GP as I don't pay for prescriptions but I was told no.
Don't want to phone GP to ask if that's right, so hoping someone her can tell me. TIA.

It's been a couple of years since I did any work for Ophthalmology but the Consultant would always ask the GP to prescribe these.

GP surgeries are increasingly trying to wriggle out of writing prescriptions. Just recently I'm aware of patients whose GPs were asked to prescribe high-dose Vitamin D (25,000IU ampules) to correct severe vitamin D deficiency and the surgeries ringing the patients telling them that they didn't really need it.

People need to stand their ground.

I would say 'I'm going to that other brand - and if they are cheaper or arrange the prescription for me via my GP if necessary, you'll lose my business and the eyetests as well.....'
