A few days ago I posted a thread about my blood pressure been a bit high.
At the start of lockdown, a year and a half ago, I was also sent a letter from my doctor telling me that my blood tests (taken a few weeks earlier) have shown that I am pre-diabetic.
(I had a quick telephone consultation which more of less ended with the words, get back to us when this is covid stuff is all over)

So my blood pressure is a bit high, And im pre-diabetic.
I know that its not great.
But I am a bit concerned tbh.

I have a free lung check for smokers and ex smokers over the telephone tomorrow
(Though how on Earth that is going to play out, I have no idea)
All that I know is that I have been asked to provide my height, weight and blood pressure.

Im pre-diabetic with high blood pressure apparently, but it can all be sorted out over the phone during my free lung test....

Whatever happened to face to face appointments with a GP?
What a farce!

it was Hancock's idea, he suggested Covid had ushered in a new efficient age where doctors could use modern inventions like the telegraph and we wouldn't be wasting their time in surgeries any more. Words cannot express my admiration for this man.
A man whose surname is comprised of two body parts, more or less, is to be trusted.
anyway, here's a US website

https://www.webmd.com/diabetes/ss/slideshow-prediabetes-diet

A friend of ours, 50ish and overweight, was told she was pe-diabetic. She took up a diet, stuck to it religiously (no booze, nothing very nice at all) but after a year she'd lost several stone and was no longer in peril. They want to use her on their posters.

Ha ha ha, lol!
Toe-knee Hancock went two better, of course.
Don't complain about your treatment yet. You might find it is the start of an efficient process.

Wait until you get a lump that's diagnosed over the phone as an abscess and it turns out to be a cancer,
Everyone I know who gets blood tests is told they are pre diabetic (except me). Even my sister who is 8 1/2 stone was told she was pre diabetic. I sometimes wonder if NICE have some kind of agenda.
I can relate to what jno is saying, in 2016 I had an heart attack later diagnosed with diabetes, lost a few stone along with it a few pills taken from my prescription, an active healthy lifestyle and I'm diabetic free and BP is at a healthy level, apart from having cancer treatment, unrelated, I am living my best life

The dr online or on phone thing, I don't get that at all- face to face only for me

best of luck nailit
You see what happens, jno, when you leave off LOL or a smiley. :-)

What treatment?

Take your own blood pressure?
A telephone consultation?
Expect a referral to a pre diabetic course, our local ones were a referral to WW. However since I did it my blood results are back within normal range.

What is NICE 237?
I wouldn't have a problem with a phone consultation myself, unless it was a condition where the doc needed to examine me. It saves the journey to the surgery, and that awful wait in the waiting area next to coughing Billy.
what would you expect a doctor to do in a face to face appt that they couldn't do over the phone?
On the telephone tomorrow, mention your concerns and ask if you should try for an appointment or start an online consult (as many surgeries are doing now).
I knew someone would come along with a link ) Its the organization that dictates the rules to GPs (etc)

Take my blood pressure him/herself rather than take my word for it for one....

For one their machines might be better than shop bought ones!
