Does Oily Hair Appear Thinner Than What It Really Is
60 Answers
My hair is thinner than it used to be, however, sometimes it looks thinner than usual. I suffer from mild acne and oily skin and I was thinking maybe it’s the oil that makes my hair sometimes look a lot thinner than usual? When it’s like this my fringe looks separated and brittle rather than full of volume. My dermatologist has prescribed me roaccutane for my acne and I’m wondering if when roaccutane takes its course and clears up acne and oily skin it will stop my hair looking thin and greasy? I’m also taking finasteride to prevent further hair loss.

There is some good advice here for treating oily scalp and hair. I hope it's helpful.

Jack, I don’t think girls these days are opposed to bald men. In fact shaved heads are everywhere and look so much better than heads with a bit of straggly hair. Nice clothes, cleanliness, a nice smell and good manners win every time. Google good looking bald men and take a look. Lots of the rich and famous among them. Good luck.
Andy Hughes- women do care about looks a lot, especially young women in their early twenties. A lot of women do ‘virtue signalling’ in which they claim to go for personality over looks, but it’s a big lie. If a 5ft 4 bald headed fat guy with a poorly structured face and big bulging eyes approached a woman and tried chatting her up, she would quickly make an excuse to leave and tell her friends she was approached by a creep, even though he might have been the nicest man in the world. Now if a 6ft 2 man with a chiseled jawline, head of thick dark hair, Hunter eyes and a face like Leonardo DiCaprio approached a woman, do you really think she would be so quick to leave and call him a creep? Absolutely not! Watch a YouTube channel called ‘wheat waffles’ and it explains all of this excellently

There you have it jack, from a lady who understands what is important in a man.
Ladies understand that very few men are bald from choice - a minority shave their heads from choice, but most are doing it to avoid having horrible straggly hair which looks dreadful.
Clean fingernails, fresh breath and clean shoes will triumph over someone trying, and failing, to pretend he is not one of the fifty percent of adult mails who are losing their hair.

I think you do women a diservice Jack.
I can only reiterate that women who lack the manners and maturity to go beyond instant images are not worth bothering with.
For the record, Carlo Ponti, the Italian film director, fitted your description of a 'creep' perfectly, and he was happily married to Sophia Loren, one of the most beautiful women who ever lived and who could have had her pick of any men alive.
The appeal of looks fades over time, personality and humour last for ever.

I would also like to add that in the age of social media and dating apps, young women around my age are inundated with likes. I know a girl who has been on tinder a week and she already has way over 500 likes, and she’s only average looking. She even admitted to me that because she has so many options she will therefore choose the best of the bunch, which of course she would that makes total sense. Why would she pick a bald headed average man when she can have a Chad who has a head of thick dark hair and a chiseled handsome face.
Jack - // Naomi- yes but like you say ‘good looking bald men’. These celebrity bald men like Dwayne Johnson are already 8+ out of ten to begin with. They are above average in looks and thus still nice looking bald. For an average looking man that wouldn’t be the case //
Getting hung up on whether a man is more or less attractive with or without hair is going to make you miserable.
We all are what we are, we cannot alter that without serious money, and really, a hair transplant or hopefully slowing down the hair loss process won't alter who you are.
I can only repeat, mature interesting attractive women have hangups about themselves the same as everyone else - they don;t judge by appearence, even at the extremes you mention as though they are aq template.
Hardly any of us, of either gender, are drop-dead gorgoues, or hideously ugly, we are all occuping the middle ground together, and happy to be there.

Jack - // Andy Hughes- yes I agree with what you are saying, but most women around my age will go for looks every time if given the option, it’s human nature to want the most attractive thing, that is why I don’t want to put myself as a disadvantage by taking my hair away //
Once again you appear fixated wiht the notion that women your age only want gorgeous boyfriends.
i can only repeat, a woman who is with a man so her friends can envy her because of how handsome he is, is a woman who is going to go from man to man because she is looking for attraction in the wrong places.
Confidence, humour, personality, conversation, and security are things that actually attract people, or either gender.
Trust me, I've lived long enough to know what I'm talking about!!

Andy Hughes- we both know as men that if a girl has good personality traits but ugly we would not be interested in her romantically. Women are the same! It’s just depending on how old you are, women back then didn’t have access to as many men as they do now, due to social media and dating apps, so women would settle more back then. Also, I’m not talking about ‘drop dead gorgeous’ boyfriends. What I’m saying is that most women my age in this day and age wouldn’t be interested in below average looking ugly men, which is the category an average looking man would fall into if he was to lose all his hair
Naomi- yes I know but I’m not talking about scrappy bits of hair, I’m talking about a normal head of hair. You’re all probably thinking I look bald as my hair is that thin, but it’s not. If you was to see me it just looks like a normal head of hair, it’s just that I’ve noticed it thinning under the surface which is why I jumped on the medication to stop it before it sets in

Speak for yourself, I am not that immature and shallow, thank you!!

Again - spoeak for yourself!!!
I am an average-looking man, I didn;t suddely morph into a troll because I went bald.
You are seeing the world through stereotypes that are not real, and makng yourself insecure and unhappy doing it.
It's not your baldness that will put women off you, it's your insecurity and shallow view of the world, they will sense that a mile off, before they get to know the real you who may be an interesting and attractive man who happens to have his head shaved.
