Daughter started with this yesterday. Worse this morning with a bit of acheyness. No fever. She's done 3-4 lft tests...negative. Booked for a pcr shortly. Won't know the results until tomorrow or Monday.

I started one today as well but had a positive test and isolated up to 10th December.

I did wonder if it was a hangover from having the bug. Maybe, like me, she's already had a mild version and she didn't know.

I'm guessing of course.
aren't you supposed to be going to theirs for Christmas.
I wonder if she has the so called "super cold" that's been going around. I had it, as did LCG, tested negative for Covid but felt really ill for nearly three weeks. Bad cough and breathlessness

Yes...I'm supposed to be going to theirs
She had a very bad cold back I October I think. I thought of the super cold then.
She's had the pcr now and should know tomorrow. Fingers crossed she's ok. She's booked in for her booster on Tuesday.
i hope she feels better soon and that you go ahead with your plans for Christmas
There is a bug going around. I had it really badly and it lasted nearly 2 weeks. Chest, eardrum, tonsils, sinuses all infected but no temperature. The doctor said it was very unlikely to be covid because it was a productive cough. The PCR was negative.
Pasta - I called over to friend/neighbour's house about two weeks ago. She had just flown back from England to visit son. Absolutely loaded with cold, watering eyes, running nose - wouldn't let me in beyond the hall as she was terrified of having Covid. Done PCR that night and within hours found out she was fine.

So I believe there is a terrible bug going about and I do hope that is the case so you can get your beloved time with daughter and SIL
Hopefully she'll be ok.
There seems to be other nasty viruses about too.
The lateral flow test and the PCR are only accurate if they are done accurately.
The 'super cold' might be doing the rounds, but the Omicron variant shows the same signs as a bad cold, so how do you know, one way or the other?
Well Barsel - neighbour went to one of those "nightingale" places and she did do three LFT as well at home too.

She is still suffering a little so it has been a cold regarding her - she also helps to look after 12 grandchildren and she is back to work after being off for a few days.

Omicron can be detected by both lateral flow and pcr tests.

Omicron can be detected by both lateral flow and pcr tests.
Wishing her a speedy recovery, Pasta xx
A friend of mine was having a procedure a while ago at the hospital and they said we will do a Covid test and my friend said she had already done one at home and they said Oh yes, but we do them properly here.
Made me think that not everybody might be doing them as they should be done.
///Omicron can be detected by both lateral flow and pcr tests///

It can't by LFT.
Question Author
I'd only just read that on a BBC report from a few days ago.
O.K......the BBC is misinformed.
The BBC had an expert this evening saying the LFT is very good at picking up Omicron.
Then I stand corrected.
J a watching football so not concentrating.

My thoughts are LFTs may pick up Covid but cannot identify Omicron which have to be passed on to the PCR identifying the Omicron variant.

Clearly it is me who is misinformed.
