Here's moaning Minnie again. After tossing and turning all night I am in extreme pain with (today) back pain.

Haven't got on the scales since 1 December and I cannot believe that tho I didn't really eat that many sweets I still imbibed for quite a few weeks. I have only gained a pound. Cannot believe that but I keep a diary.

A new mattress is coming on Monday and I hope this will alleviate the pain somewhat.

I know I need to lose a few stone but from your opinions - would losing weight help the pain. Thanks

Yes, it would. Carrying extra weight affects your stance and gait, putting strain on your back.

Thanks Barry - I know you lost quite a bit of weight - did your joint pain (if you had any) ease off.
It sounds counter intuitive, but gentle exercise is good for back pain. It helps keep you mobile and supple.

I am starting to get depressed with it as it is dragging me down.

I need to take some decs down and tidy up etc but will have to wait until later.

It certainly did help with the aches and pains, JJ.
I think you already know that losing weight will be a big help - it's getting motivated to do it that's the problem.

Hopkirk is right about exercise.
A bolster behind the lower back when seated is a good idea. (a rolled up hand towel does the job)

A lot of lower back pain is due to poor sitting posture.
