The Spring Boozter

It is now time for me to have the spring booster vaccination. My previous three vaccinations were Pfizer but it seems that all I can get locally is Moderna. I get told that it is quite safe but I would prefer to stay with the same kind. I feel that I am presenting myself as awkward. Am I so unusual in wanting the same kind of vaccine?

No, I think that a lot of people prefer to stick to the same vaccine.

I was hoping all my vaccines would be different on the grounds that one might fill-in the gaps in immumity that another one left. I've had 2 each of Oxford and Pfizer, my wife has had 1 Oxford, 2 pfizer and 1 moderna.

I've had A-Z/A-Z/Pfizer/Moderna. take what's on offer

My first two were Astra zenica, the first boost was Pfizer and the second boost Moderna, no reaction to any of them. I know of people who had the same type throughout and had a reaction, so I guess there's no guarantee that having the same will produce no effects.

I have tried to get my two oldsters there spring booster twice - no easy feat getting them out of the house.
The first appointment it was raining and the queue was halfway down the street. The people at the front of the queue had been waiting an hour and a half. We came home and rebooked at a different centre.
Delighted to arrive and see there was no queues (this was at a fairly small chemist), disgusted to be told there was nobody available to do it as 'he was on holiday for two weeks'.

Third appointment made for next week - fingers crossed all goes well. We couldn't care less what sort of booster they have as long as it is effective

I must say all our jabs have been very well organised (West Berkshire). All mine were at the same doctors' surgery (not our own) and things were tweaked between jabs so the system got steadily better. My wife had three at the surgery and her last one at a pharmacy; all were hassle free.

Yes I think you are unusual. I don’t know that the type of vaccine is optional. Take whatever the NHS has on offer in your area.

Like you I had 3 Pfizer jabs and when I asked at the centre what the 4th would be I was told it was Moderna and that Pfizer was being 'reserved'for younger people - no idea if that was true. I had the Moderna with no side effects apart for a slightly sore arm

Thank you all for your comments and observations. (Yes, bhg481, it was a typo) I found a walk-in centre and when I specified that I wanted Pfizer, it was no problem.
