Modern Masculinity

Men have lower life expectancy than women, and significantly higher suicide rates. They are more likely to be the victims of violence and are falling behind educationally.
Certain "male" behaviours that used to be acceptable no longer are, and many within the younger generation feel lost & even demonized in what they see as an increasingly "feminised" culture.
What's going on?

As a bona fide male chauvinist with archaic tendencies. I like a woman to be feminine, intelligent, intriguing, and pretty. Some males today blunder from ingratiating servility to arrogant posturing. The role models of yesteryear are thin on the ground. Women seem to me to be changing from enchanting, to confrontatio nal.

Atheist and Barry have explained it well and while we are nowhere near equality, at least there is some awareness now.
However, I agree we are going somewhat backwards in some ways- in that individual thinking, feelings, behaviour, now need to be stereotyped as male or female and pigeon-holed. We had been aiming towards tolerance of just being individual at one time.

atheist; // Could you please explain how you define men and women? Not in terms of genitalia, but perhaps psychologically.//
That question wasn't addressed to me, but I'd like to say that if you feel so confused that you don't know the difference between a real man and a real woman you have my sympathy. Perhaps, dare I suggest, you might be in need of help.

Khandro, I'm not really interested in defining the difference between one sort of human being and another. I find some women interesting and some men boring. Why can't you answer a straight question so as to clarify what we are discussing? I don't feel at all confused.
I think that men and women are all human beings. You seem to think that we should impose definitions so as to separate men from women. Why do you feel the need to do that?

bednobs; Khandro has been asked that a couple of times, but he won't reply in terms that mean anything apart from waffle. Sadly, he's got a girlie mentality, in that it's all emotion and feeling and no decent good old-fashioned masculine logic. (If I knew how, I'd insert an emoji which expresses irony).
It's caused by their names. Back in the day strapping young lads with names like Trevor, Roger and Brian (with an 'i') couldn't help but grow up into hairy chested plumbers that engage in a bit darts between a bit of slap and tickle o' the wenches down the boozer, such as those the OP likes to see. If one's name is Kyle, Noah or Rylan all of that is a non starter. Caleb or Logan could go either way.
