Men have lower life expectancy than women, and significantly higher suicide rates. They are more likely to be the victims of violence and are falling behind educationally.

Certain "male" behaviours that used to be acceptable no longer are, and many within the younger generation feel lost & even demonized in what they see as an increasingly "feminised" culture.

As a bona fide male chauvinist with archaic tendencies. I like a woman to be feminine, intelligent, intriguing, and pretty. Some males today blunder from ingratiating servility to arrogant posturing. The role models of yesteryear are thin on the ground. Women seem to me to be changing from enchanting, to confrontational.

Khandro, I still don't know what this has got to do with the topic of modern masculinity, but that aside your post at 12:48 Sat seems to suggest that you consider all male homosexuals to be predators preying on the young and that isn’t true at all. I have a friend like you. In her ignorance, she is convinced they're all paedophiles but of course they aren't. Why would they be? That is like saying all heterosexual men are attracted to young girls - and actually it's just as ridiculous.

As for role models, I know two families where the parents are homosexual males who have adopted boys and girls - and you would struggle to find more well-balanced children. They are encouraged in education and you'll always find the fathers at the sports field cheering on their rugby and football playing sons along with all the other dads. They are, in fact, excellent role models who, like any other good parent, want the best for their children. I don't think you're being fair at all.
Thanks naomi - I am sure Khandro will read your post, essentially saying what I have said, but when I post that view, Khandro claims not to read it.

Hopefully your post will give him food for thought, although I doubt.

Homophobia is hard to shift at the best of times.

n. Interesting.
AH, //essentially saying what I have said//

Not really. I did it without attacking Khandro on a personal level.

//Homophobia is hard to shift at the best of times//

I don't like labels. They tend to point accusatory fingers and that tends to mislead. Opinions that don't support those demanded by the loudest mouths in this wonky society we inhabit aren't automatically wrong or offensive. They're just different - and in a free society that SHOULD be accepted.
Khandro - interesting ... and also true.
Naomi, you are quite right, your objectivity does you credit, but on occasion, my deep dislike of ignorant bigotry does colour my responses to it, but to their detriment, I know.

I don't like labels either, including labelling gay men as predatory paedophiles.
AH, //I don't like labels either, including labelling gay men as predatory paedophiles. //

That's not a label. It's an erroneous opinion.

n. The other difference is, one is anecdotal & the other is simply an opinion.
But, these children have to face the rest of their lives not having had a mother, it matters not a lot whether that is an adopted or step-mother, it is a woman embedded in their lives - & everything that entails.
Schoolyard conversation:
"My mum does such & such, does your mum?"
"I don't have a mum, I have two dads"

Oh boy, children!
Khandro, there are many children who, for various reasons, don't have a mother or a father, but they do have other people in their lives - aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends - and those children do grow to become what they are, be it heterosexual or homosexual. They just do. Oddly enough, another friend of mine was married - she thought happily - for years - until her husband ran off with another man. Her two children, a boy and a girl, were young adults when dad disappeared, and are both gay. Dad certainly didn't influence them in that direction - so something in the genes … possibly?

My real problem with your attitude though is your assumption that all gay men are paedophiles. Have you considered my question 'Why would they be?' Of course we get paedophiles who prey on children - male and female - gay and straight - but that's because they're paedophiles. You're attracted to adults so why do you assume that the majority of gay people aren't - just as the majority of straight people aren't?
There a no sexually aware homosexual boys, despite homosexual idiots of your persuasion.

And what’s my ‘persuasion’?

There are indeed sexually aware homosexual boys:
‘ The mean age of self-identification as lesbian or gay was 16.7 years for males and 16 years for females. Gay males were, on average, aware of same-sex attraction at about age 9; the average age for lesbians was 10

Knowing one's sexual orientation — whether straight or gay — is often something that kids or teens recognize with little doubt from a very young age. Some gay teens say they had same-sex crushes in childhood,

The interviewees revealed that in childhood there were the first manifestations of sexual desires and curiosities with individuals of the same sex,

Zacs Master; //The mean age of self-identification as lesbian or gay was 16.7 years for males and 16 years for females.//

All that research only proves my point; that age is well after puberty & they are no longer boys, they are youths, adolescents, teenagers or what you will. There are no homosexual boys - full stop.

This is why it is outrageous that some children are being told such drivel that they can identify as male or female in the classroom & some are even being given "Gender-affirming" hormone treatment !

'Florida governor Ron DeSantis on Monday signed a law banning lessons on sexual orientation and gender identity in elementary schools, a step that critics say will hurt the LGBTQ community.

"We will make sure that parents can send their kids to school to get an education, not an indoctrination," the Republican governor said before signing the bill into law.

Opposition Democrats and LGBTQ rights activists have lobbied against what they call the "Don't Say Gay" law, which will affect kids in kindergarten through third grade, when they are eight or nine years old.' [i.e. 'boys']

Good for him says Khandro!
I say good for him too.
Khandro; I think you'll soon be huffing off into the distance almost alone. 'Education' vs 'Indoctrination' - it all depends which side you're on. Evolution is seen as indoctrination by some, education by others.
Do you regard religious teaching as education or indoctrination? I'm never sure what you believe in, as you usually hide your position behind rather vague quotes from various 'authorities' or Youtube stars.
Question Author
Atheist, Do you regard religious teaching as education or indoctrination
It can be both depending on quality of the teacher.
Khandro, and what about the evidence in my other 2 links which refute your previous assertion that there cannot be homosexual boys?

Also, you didn’t clarify what you think my ‘persuasion’ is.
Question Author
Zacs Master: //and what about the evidence in my other 2 links which refute your previous assertion that there cannot be homosexual boys?//

Your links will be written no doubt by LGBTQ activists, pre puberty, children are gender, but not sexually aware.

//Also, you didn’t clarify what you think my ‘persuasion’ is.//

See my post above 16:43

You either stand in line behind Governor Ron DeSantis as I & millions of others (including naomi I see) do. or you are in the line with the LGBTQ s - which ever line are you in, that's what your persuasion is.
Khandro - I am intrigued by your view that religious teaching can be education or indoctrination depending on the teacher, but your view of sex education appears only to see indoctrination, and no education.

We all adapt our views to suit our position on matters we view as important.

That can lead us to contradict ourselves, sometimes on the same thread.

Glad you are not exempt from such failings.
Question Author
Do try to keep up Andy, there's nothing wrong with sex education, but it has to be good quality (like religious education) and not aimed at children, See my above post at 16:43.
Decrying links to fairly learned articles only serves to further highlight your bigoted stance on the subject, Khandro. Fortunately there’s a generation coming to the fore who don’t think like you do.
