Finding A Dentist.

I dropped off my dentists patient list a while back. When I phoned the surgery today to ask to be readmitted they said they're not taking any new patients until the New Year.
Apart from working my way through the Yellow Pages how do I find a dentist?

Look online for Dentists in my area. It should come up with a list of those currently taking NHS patients. That's how I found one a few months ago. Good luck.

For most of the UK there's a website that offers a postcode search facility for people to find dentists in their area, with an indication as to which of those practices (if any) are currently taking on new NHS patients.

However Northern Ireland is, as usual, different. All that's available online is a complete list of all dental surgeries in NI (in the form of a downloadable Excel spreadsheet) and the rather unhelpful statement that "If you are looking for a Health Service dentist you can look at Health and Social Care Board Dental List at their headquarters or local offices". (There are email addresses and telephone numbers given for the relevant offices though, so you could try contacting them that way).

I always Google if I want to find something near me. When I moved house the first thing I did was type in 'gp surgery near me' and a few came up.

Ah ok , i work in a dental hospital and its a university hospital and people can refer themselves to the student treatment programme.

Queen's Dental School is offering free dental treatment for adults who require routine treatment such as fillings, crowns and root canal work or simple gum treatment.

Give them a call, see if you can self refer.

you do need a recommendation from your GP first of all.

my neighbour had to send a photo of my offending tooth to the GP and with good luck got an appointment.

I need rotten teeth removed and a set of dentures. Dental schools might removed the teeth but wouldn't make dentures.
I'll have to see a dentist and pay for the treatment.

I'm just remembering a friend I met last week. She is 91 in July and getting top and bottom false for £485 but she likes this favourite dentist. Ring school of dentistry and see anyway if there's free

I'm in touch with a surgery on the Antrim Rd which accepts NHS patients.
I think I'll have to pay something, though.

that's good Sandy - another dentist (I forgot about) but they take NHS as well - is Sunnyside Dentist. Sister recommends them. Give them a wee ring as well
