I’ve had neuropathy in the soles of my feet since 2009. It’s really painful if I stand or walk. At the moment it’s absolutely awful, and I don’t know if it’s linked with my back problem which has stopped me from sitting and bending for the last three months. Has anybody tried amitriptyline for this, and how did you get on with it?

No I haven't but I presume a lot of people have but unfortunately with varying success.
Might help....might not.

it is also in the Cochrane review ( 2012) so - - - who is treating you? It may be worthwhile asking the GP for a pain consult
The one time I was given amitriptyline was when I had Shingles, I have to say though I felt not in control and that was with just one , I was told by my GP to increase the dose when the pain was worse but I never did
This (from an extremely reputable source) might be worth a read:

My daughter tried it for nerve damage in her foot years ago but she felt hungover all the time so stopped taking it. If you can, get a referral to a NHS pain clinic as they will suggest various meds and techniques which will help ease your pain. Good luck
I had it for severe back pain a while back and it worked a treat, never had any side effects either.

My system may be used to substance interference though.
I had neuropathy earlier this year. I was in hospital for ten days. I came out with a prescription for Amitripyline, Indapamid, Ezetimibe, lansoprazole, Metformin and Thiamine. I'm still taking them all to this day.

Caran, have they helped? Thanks All – I am actually talking to the pain clinic on Tuesday about my back, and I’m hoping they will consider the neuropathy linked to it, so I can talk about both issues.
They were fine ar first but I think my neuropathy is coming back.
The side effects of the pills are a bit severe. 3 of them have diarrhoea have side effects so I live on pills for that too.
I have taken Amitriptyline for over 25 yrs. Prescribed by a Rheumatologist. Started on 10 mg upped to 50 mg where it's been for years.

Daughter in law also takes it for facial Neuralgia.
