High Blood Pressure Query

I have been instructed by my GP to take my blood pressure readings daily and send them to her. I started recording them only within the last few weeks.

When I started taking them the measurements were around 147/92. Though higher than it should be it was an improvement on my previous readings. (Ramipril had been reduced from 10mg to 5mg but has been increased back to 10mg).

However, today was extra stressful and I am totally exhausted. When I took the reading tonight I expected it to be higher but the readings were 129/82 and then 116/74 half an hour later.

This is the lowest that I can remember my BP ever being, why would the readings be so low? I am not worried but I am curious as to why this should be.

I think a sudden and unusual bout of exercise you're not used to can lower blood pressure....I think.

I guess you've been extra busy today but I don't recommend moving every day. ;-)

Has it all gone to plan?
It is OK
have a cuppa
or watch coronation st or something
Have you had less fluids today?
I don't think being exhausted would affect the readings .

However , being stressed would .
Did you take the readings when you had settled / calmed down , and relaxed ?

Gness - I had to pick up the keys to my new abode, collect my carrier bag of medication from the chemist, and lots of other things. I am so tired that I am just off to bed for the weekend.

I don't move much at all unless it can be avoided.

PP - Coronation street - that would drive me totally insane. Why would anyone watch a programme about people having miserable existences?

I like realistic programmes - Stargate Atlantis, Star Trek and true crime and forensics.

237SJ - yes, my kidneys are failing so I am supposed to drink loads of water. I didn't, I have only had a cup of tea.

Bazile - I was relaxed but not 'that' relaxed that the figures would be so low.

I think that I will go and play games on my Kindle, munch a bag of Wotsits and drink water. Grown-up stuff!

Have a good weekend all
How long was there between you eating and checking your BP? Blood pressure can drop significantly 30 to 60 minutes after eating a meal. (My BP is often around 140/80 but it can drop to about 110/75 after eating).
Wolfe ( Susan).
Up until. 6ish in the day, you have only had one cup of tea . .?please.

Ann, I was out all day. I had a cup of tea and a couple of biscuits when I popped into Oxfam. I know that this doesn't help my diabetes. Since posting this I have had two ham sandwiches, water and a big bag of cheesy Wotsits.

I expected my BP to be higher.

Chris, I hadn't started to eat my ham sandwiches so might be food related.

I have always had HBP as has my brother. My readings are usually high normal. I know that it is just a snapshot of what the BP at that particular time and daily activities or, in my case, inactivity, effect the readings.

I am now under the duvet all warm and sleepy. I shall be back!
they really can bounce around, I usually have to have three or four readings when I go in for a test and the disparity is amazing.
Please take it easy hun, I'm worried about you. I have HBP too. Is the issue with your kidneys because of your diabetes? If you'd prefer to about this on FB then that's okies. Or if you'd prefer to not talk about it with me at all, obviously that's also fine.

Just please try and take care of yourself, *offers hugs*.

The main culprit in the problem was Lithium. It screwed up my kidneys over a period of many years. It also mucked up my neurological system and made me shake.
I'm off it but the damage is done.

It's nice to see you back on AB and still with your young lady. I hope that you both have a good 2023.

They have put your blood pressure meds back up..... Add that to not drinking enough.... You really need to take better care of yourself. I know it's hard when you are doing it on your own but if we can't care for ourselves who will.

Yes, mum!

Thank you, I hope 2023 goes alright for you too, as well as it can do with your health complications.

Rowanwitch is right, as much as I hate saying it, because of how I'm terrible at taking advice, not because I don't like agreeing with you rowanwitch ;p

My kidneys are apparently not great either, because of my pancreas, that's why I thought I'd ask if it was related to you being diabetic. It was totally self-inflicted for me.

My better half has asked me to send her regards and hopes that things improve for you soon. She's a worrier like me, she wants you to feel better.
Sometimes we all need a gentle kick up the ***. If it wasn't for a friend doing the same to me I would not have gone to the doctor with the current chest problem. She has big feet to kick with too.
Sometimes I am a nice nurse, sometimes I am matron in a 1950s cottage hospital, part pussycat part dragon.
///I expected it to be higher but the readings were 129/82 and then 116/74 half an hour later.///

So? I can't see what all the fuss is about........these are just 2 readings.

Yes Miss.

*puts on asbestos underpants in case your dragon side breathes fire*
I imagine rowan on the wards saying "With a daffodil?"
