Pins And Needles.

For the last few weeks I have been having waves of pins and needles all down my left arm. Sometimes quite strong other times a bit lighter. Happens quite often, about 5-10 minutes apart. Also both thumbs have gone dead. Very annoying when trying to turn pages in the newspapers. I did look on line and it mentioned could be heart related.
Had to go o doctors to hand a specimen in so asked if I could see a doctor.
When I explained why she said can you come back at 5.15. Gosh that had me surprised. When I got there the doctor gave me a going over. Said I had a heart murmur. Gave me an appointment for Friday to have an ECG.
Has anyone else had anything like this before?

Yes, it was nerve impingement. My symptoms have now disappeared.

Haha, I'm still waiting for an appointment with the Neurosurgeons. Ask me this time next year.

I get in in both arms and one foot due to neurological problems, but if the doc says its a heart murmer and has examined you then I would believe her, especially if is your left arm and comes in waves.

So the GP hasn't actually said your pins and needles are down to a heart murmur, that's just an incidental finding?

Pins and needles are a neurological symptom, I can't think how it could be cardiac related.

I'm just hoping the ECG will prove it one way or the other.

The GP has requested the ECG because she heard a heart murmur when she examined you but I wouldn't think that is in any way related to your neurological symptoms.

I had pins and needles mainly down my left arm and numbness in my fingertips and my MRI showed that the problem was coming from my C-spine

Heart problems can cause tingling down left arm. And the doctor has examined Caran and said its a heart murmur which is why Caran is initially going for an ECG.

I think it can be the start of many things, the more you read into it the more you worry about it. I had much the same on and off.When i was taking to a much older guy than me about it, he said it could be the start of Arthritis because thats how his started.But I really dont know. Just dont read to much into it before you've seen someone.Good luck.

Definitely true Naomi and if the doctor has said its a heart murmur then she's more than likely right.

Yes I know, i read carans OP. But that dont mean both are related, like LCG said in her post. But on our part its all guess work. So will leave it at that for now.
