Hip Replacement Op Tomorrow

(Well, unless it gets cancelled because of the current situation)
Trying to remember back to when I had the first one done 12/15 years ago and I just can't think how long I was 'indisposed'.
Can anyone add a rough guide as to how long before I can walk, get into a car (passenger) and finally drive again?
No blurb from the hospital as this was all arranged so quickly after being on the list almost 5 years.
TIA :)

I think I've covered all the bases I need to, all rugs removed, tall toilet seat rescued from last time, high chair put in lounge. Heavy 3 wheel walker brought in from garage etc.
Bound to have forgotten something.

Hi, I have just got back from seeing the surgeon who did my hip replacement 6 weeks ago. He was very pleased with my progress. I can start driving & doing housework. Don't need any walking aids or toilet raiser anymore. I like u had my other hip replaced 13 years ago. I am positive this time its been a quicker recovery. Good luck for tomorrow.
Yes, Margot's timings are about right. I've had both hips replaced. It was longer before I could drive when my left hip was done, because that one has to use the clutch - unless you have an automatic car of course.
Tip - do all the physio, and a bit more.
You'll be fine. It's wonderful when that pain is gone.
I'm more worried about my knees which seem to be ready for replacement. :(

I had my hip done 29th December. Was in hospital for 1 night only, out of bed within hours of op. Physio showed me exercises to do at home. Had to sleep on my back for 8 weeks, was driving after 6 weeks. Still using one stick. Was able to shower with supervision after a few days. Annoying thing was I couldn't wash and dry my feet or put socks on for about 3 weeks, had to rely on OH. Pretty much pain free, certainly am managing more things now than before op. GP suggests it will take 12 months for it to heal completely.
Good luck with it.

Most people have got it right. Sleeping Y shaped is VERY important.
NO crossy crossy of legs. I think I first crossed mine two y later and thought oo-er!
I was very shy of getting into a car because of the near-crossing of legs.
I was v lucky: the next doors pit bull ( speyed ***) adopted me on day 1 and guarded me for ten days. Sitting on the arm of a sofa, panting. I think the wound must have smelt. Great for both of us
