Why Are Skirts Seen As More Attractive Than Shorts By Men?

I have always wondered, but never asked, why men prefer women to wear skirts over shorts. Skirts are very loose whereas shorts can be figure hugging and emphasis the buttocks/waist better.

Is it because skirts are associated with youth?

Or subconsciously skirts look to be easier access ie less of a barrier than shorts when accessing sex?

Very good point Helen, but I have heard and read this preference stated so many times by men that I have concluded it to be true for the majority of men.

Rarely anything is a fact on this planet, we know that but I don’t think we should let this totally takeaway our estimations based on our experiences

My husband has always said a well cut pair of trousers with heels is more sexy than a skirt.
If you have heard this many times why didn’t you question it then?

I think skirts look more ladylike, accentuating a ladies femininity. In my opinion something to be admired.

The women (& probably the men) around here don't seem to care much about style or fashion & dress purely for practicality. "Leisure" wear is much in evidence.

I dont think I have such a preference, but saying that, a pair of trousers can hide a multitude of issues, a skirt hides very little, especially a short skirt.

Reminds me of a delightful incident from 40 odd years ago. It was a warm summer day but very windy. A young lady came around the corner wearing a light summer dress and the wind blew up her skirt revealing her skimpy underwear. Unlike Ms. Monroe she was carrying a parcel & unable to restrain the offending garment!

Personally I think it depends on the person wearing it. A short skirt on someone with huge tattooed thighs is horrid, on a female with tones legs it is very attractive. As for the shorts it depends again on the person but also the shorts. For instance one of my daughters wears bot but I honestly think the shorts are shorter than the micro skirts she wears. But then, even at 37, has very long slim legs (and no tattoos) and can get away with it.

I wore skirts when I had long slim legs. Very short mini skirts a d hot pants. However I prefer trousers now and think older women look frumpy in skirts and dresses. I'm a a casual dresser and hubby likes me in trousers. I got married in trousers! 76 yesterday, But I still like fashionable quirky clothing.

It seems to be only really old men who prefer women in skirts rather than trousers or shorts.

I agree about the tattoos though!!

I think Ladies look better in skirts long or short depends on their age I guess, what suits them best and makes them feel comfortable.

I have to say though not impowered but never liked trouser suits on ladies, always makes me think they have a pencil shoved so far up there you can almost hear them squeak when they walk.
