Hi , I had a colectomy 2019 after suffering diverticulitis, In October I'm having a stoma reversal as well as diastasis recti fixed , has anyone had the diastasis recti op , how long is usual recovery time, I'm a 67 year old male ?

No, I have never had this type of surgery and my comments are purely "second hand."

This is major surgery and no "walk in the park".

I cannot answer your questions as each case varies according to the degree of abnormality. You will feel pretty"crock" for at least a month and each recovery time will vary with each patient and their degree of diastasis.

Good luck yansee. I can’t offer any advice. I had a sigmoid resection done about 10 years ago, also due to diverticulitis, it wasn’t a walk in the park, but what has to be done has to be done. Get your nearest and dearest prepared to wait on you hand and foot and you’ll be fine.

I was offered the diastasis recti repair but chickened out. Hope it all goes well.

Hi, yansee. I have no experience of this (lucky me) but just wondered how things are now following your bypass op? Good, I hope :)

Choux I'm fine thank you after the bypass, no problems at all , walking up to 2 miles every day

I had a stoma reversal and I regard that as the major bit - takes an hour or two

How long does it take to heal from diastasis recti surgery?
Approximately two weeks post op, many patients are cleared to go back to work but are to avoid strenuous activity and heavy lifting. By 4-6 weeks post op, you can begin to slowly resume all normal activities and are generally cleared to return back to the gym.

I developed an ileostomy closure hernia which then obstructed and all I can say is - - have the operations the doctors suggest

I had my colostomy reversal and hernia op yesterday,  it was a 9 hour op bue to the large hernia,  all went well but in a load of pain today,  thanks for all your replies and best wishes

So pleased for you, Yansee :)  Not about the pain, obviously, but that is to be expected.  I hope you are getting proper pain relief.

When do you expect to go home?
