I *DON'T* expect any one to understand it.

But can you at least understand that no one expected to end up this way??

I never woke up one morning and thought that it would be a good idea to become addictited to drugs or alcohol.

Its a kind of creeping thing....

Do you know how long you'll have to wait for it?

yes

nobody's accused you of deliberate self-harm, I think most people realise that addiction to anything is inadvertent - complicated by the fact that it doesn't happen to everyone and all expect that it won't happen to them.

Yep, I understand it.  Hope your detox goes as well as it can, stay strong.

So glad that you are getting help

I hope this will be the start of a new phase in your life.

Good luck.

Thanks for replies.

It's 8.30 in the morning and I'm trollied already.

Drinking at 7 in the morning isn't normal...

Roll on death.

Or detox, which ever comes first...

Courage, mate ...you can do it 👍

Nailedit tell me to MMOB if you wish but in the good old days when I would get a bit psd I would fall asleep.  Do you do that when you start so early?

Must add I do hope they get a move on with your Detox.  xx

No, it tails off as the day goes on but have to keep topping up or else I become really ill and cant function.

Just had my pre detox bloods done. The forms came in the post at dinner time and managed to book appointment for 3 oclock today. Waited months for this. Waiting list is around 3-4 months for a bed to become available.

I know that most won't understand addiction (how could you if you havn't been there?) but appriciate the support of those that do.

This time last year I had a job, a life, and was in a good place. Now I'm just trying to get through each day alive until I get sober again. Addiction is insiduous .

I think most of us do understand addiction, nailedit, and we're rooting for you.

I'm very glad that things seem to have started being put in train.  Hang on in there.  :)

I'm a bit of a lurker on here because I can't seem to keep up using my phone. However I've followed your posts and just wanted to dive in and add my support and best wishes to you. Someone very close to me suffered with alcohol addiction so I know how hard the road you are on is. You might feel down and desperate now but you can do it. Good luck!

Thank you too. I intend to. I have a beautiful grandaughter, I want to live long enough to see her grow up.
