Chamomile tea before bed might help.`

if I can't sleep at night (not extreme in my case) I just get up and do daytime things like emails or even tidying up. Then when I do get tired I go back to bed and sleep, whatever the clock says. Would that be an option for you?

I haven't slept all night for over 20 years.  Even when I am exhausted I sleep only a couple of hours at a time.

Don't fight it, as Jno says get up and do something.  When I had my dog I used to go for a walk with the dog.

Wish I knew, I'm in the same situation, been like it for years

I've been through it and you have my sympathy.

The body responds well to routine and studies do show that going to bed at the same time each night can help you achieve better sleep.

I do find though that a Horlicks does the trick for me.

When i cannot sleep i have the radio on softly near my bed and leave it on all night, listening concentrates the mind, and then i wake up in the morning.

JJ I have the same problem as you and have had it for many years and it's awful I know.  Comes with age in so many it seems.

I have found 2 different tablets help.  The 1st is Melatonin and the 2nd is Magnesium Citrate (vegan).

You could give them a try and see how you get on.  I can tell you where I get mine from if you wish. xx

thanks LB - I have tried  Melatonin - many times.  In fact you posted me before about where and what you bought (I think Amazon) - but it didn't work.

Wolf - I know you have difficulties re sleeping but knowing you of old - I do think you take a nap during the day.  Not in a million years could I do that and if I did - wouldn't sleep at night ever.

I'm like it at times, it's awful. I know one thing that definitely helps, is not having your mobile phone on your bedside table! I've been trying it lately, and it makes a difference. My mind is more peaceful.

no mobile phone Patsy so that wouldn't help.  I need Timothy Mallet at night

Well try the Magnesium Citrate then JJ.  I took 2 last night and it worked quite well.  I got them on line from Vitabright.  I seem to remember sqad vouching for them???

I think there comes a point when you'd take practically anything to get some sleep.

I hope you get sorted jj.  xx

LB - I have a big tub of MAG365 beside me in the bedroom.  Neighbour told me to buy this for my bones.  So I take a good teaspoon of it everynight.  Probably is no good for sleep tho.

JJ I have checked on line and MC is recommended for sleep.  Is your liquid Citrate?

I often get up and go on my computer for a couple of hours then back to bed.  Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

JJ, I really have to take a nap to get through the day.  I am Bipolar and this affects the brain chemistry - I am told that this is my circadian rhythm is wonky.

Don't fight it - do something else until you drop off - like the radio as already suggested, or in my case read a book.

Neither of those worked for me I'm sorry to say.

No drinks for me after 7.0pm. I don't go to bed until 11.30pm after eating some cereals or porridge. Then I sleep till about 6.0am. This is the only way that I can get some sleep.

Put on one of the 'Lord of the Rings' films you'll soon nod off... well works for me.

had that for years, i used to fight it, and that made it worse.. because you think even more mmm i have a problem, so i stopped worrying about it, i only need about 4 hrs and im good, what i do is either read, watch a bit of telly, get some work done, or if you have a hobby do that, or online games backgammon chess mahjongg solitair whatever, and dont eat salty or sugary stuff.. drinks included
