Somewhere in the past 2 weeks I read about a device that lowers blood pressure if you use it for about 20 minutes twice a day - its been approved in the USA and is now over here. I can't remember its name but I think it cost 199. Does anyone know what it is?

It's known by different names depending where you are. They're called 'prostitutes' here, but may be known as hookers*, ladies-of-the-night, or jezebels.

*do not mistake for rugby hookers, you'll only get hurt. Unless that's what you want, in which case more power to ya!

seriously bron x it sounds like a con. If your BP is high go to the doctors if not already.

May I suggest you spend your money on oats. The research that oats lowers BP is pretty substantive. And porridge is nice on cold winter mornings. Likewise if you are overweight, loose a bit. Cut out the fags and booze (if applicable)

Not teaching you to suck eggs but you only have one ticker. look after it.

Saw this article in the Daily Mail, sounds quite good actually. Called Resperate and trains you via breathing exercises proven to bring down blood pressure. Website is www.anhealth.co.uk .

having read the posted article, I am now more suspicious of such a product. Compare it to "The Slimming Belt" 'clinical proven! to lose weight ' medical research has shown' blah blah blah.

If high blood pressure is not diagnosed early enough the patient will be on medication for their entire life. Even if weight is reduced, smiking stops etc etc. Do you really think the local health authorities will not spend a one off 199 per patient as opposed to about 50 quid per month on beta blockers or ace inhibitors?

Further I will question Dr Steel. He takes thousands of pounds from companies to promote products. Any doctor can do this in their surgeries.

I say again, save your money and stick to life style changes. 15 minutes excercise per day will be more benfitial than some charletan breathing device!

Thanks Ward-Minter and Breezy23.

My elderly uncle has just been diagnosed and we were working out what else might help as well as the obvious lifestyle changes and medication. Now I've read the article, I might buy a relaxation tape for him - tons cheaper and could have other benefits as this has stressed him a bit.

Appreciate your time!
