The elderly lady who runs the post office in our village came out the other day with the immortal line


"I've been dogging the Vicar dear." followed by "He simply must get something done about the latch on the church door, It's so stiff I can't open it and I've mentioned it to him before.He just doesn't seem to take any notice."


She'd lost me to a wonderful mental picture by then though.
