What is this 'religion'/ cult about ? I only heard about it after the Hollywood celebrities started converting to it, Tom Cruise being a famous advocator.
Is Scientology the result of growing secularism or is it just something the rich and famous(of Hollywood) indulge in?

From what I saw on TV scientology is something like, they believe there is aliens that have come down and left things on this planet and these people have to get cleaned in a way .... somthing to do with clean energy or something I have no idea.. and then they do a test to see what level they are at and I guess 11 is super super high and tom cruse is like a 8 or something....(stupid) and the hole "religinon" is a bit freaky.. its all about aliens and living a sertin way... What ever it is .. it sure seems to have done something CRAZY to Tom Cruise dont you think? haha Hope I could help !!! JEN

I flirted with this 'religion' in the seventies, and believe me, stay away, I only went to a couple of seminars, and one of the things they did, me being in the Army at the time, was an interview that was more like a gentle interrogation, they asked me questions about the Army, weapons, etc. while wearing a lie detector, that was the point I walked out.

I had a boyfriend who got really into it and it made him insane and took all his money. Plus he ended up talking a different language to me. I went to a couple of meetings at The Celebrity Centre in London, and all they did was STATE THE OBVIOUS but using weird language (read Dianetics).

To me, Scientology is for intelligent people (usually Aquarians) who have a need for religion in their lives, but feel uncomfortable with the idea of a God, or a "standard" religion. L Ron Hubbard was a SCIENCE FICTION writer- and that's what he should have stayed as. My boyfriend used to go to London, and do a "Communication" course. �12 a session, and all he did was sit on a chair, and NOT move. The moment he moved or twitched, they started the stop watch again. Took him about 18 weeks to get past "Stage 1". He was on the dole at the time, and wasted all his money on this pointless "religion".

Avoid at all costs- it is total nonsense.

Lol, don't worry I'm not thinkin of converting, I just wanted to know why celebs spend so much time and money on stuff like this...but you've pretty much convinced me how useless it is so I'm not going to bother researching it :)
