who cares about designer labels? not me. so long as the clothes are clean, tidy and look good it doesn't really matter if they've got a label attached to them, and to be perfectly honest, some of those labels are over done and a bit chavvy so can work in reverse I reckon!
I buy Adidas labels from ebay and sew them into my shell suits.

Honestly though, it doesn't matter. I'm happy the way I look. Anyone else's opinion is irrelevant. I do have some 'label' stuff, but that's for special occasions.

It just gets me that if I say 'I like that top' someone says 'yer its gucci' I couldnt care less if it came from a charity shop I'm only complimenting.

Thats just cracked me up OBonio. I agree I've got some stuff but basically because I liked the look of it.
why pay for a label? As long as the cloths are clean, tidy and nice, who cares if the Prada or Primark!
I don't own a single item of "label" clothing - what's the point? They all do the same job whether they have a label or not, the only difference is you pay 4 times as much for exactly the same thing! I think its got to the stage now that people who are obsessed with labels and who have them displayed all over their clothes just look incredibly sad and shallow! Just my humble opinion!

Think I just saw the reply you refer to. :o). Do people really think that they are getting something special when they buy designer labels? All they are doing is acting like sheep and putting money into the pockets of the clever companies that mass produce and sell them.

Much better to buy things that look good on you and are a bit different from the designer 'uniforms' that some people wear. It doesn't take a lot of money to look good - it takes flair and the ability to wear clothes with confidence.

I would never pay outragious prices for the sake of a designer tag! My daughter bought a pair of designer shoes and a top last year so I put her rent up..lol.
You may laugh 4getmenot, but I distinctly remember some scally making a tidy profit selling 'Le Croc' (the crocodile one.. think it was Le Croc..) labels at school and people sewing them onto their plain PE t-shirts....

No way. When you're at school though everything like that is just something to show off to your friends with. Although in my day we didnt bother with designer stuff at school, you were just privelaged if you had the clarks shoes with the key in the bottom. :-)
Not Clark's Hardware? I had a pair of them. Everyone took the mick. Oh well.

At the end of the day .. you buy your clothes because you like them. Whether they are designer or not .. does not bother me in the slightest, im willing to spend 80 on a pair of jeans, however i will also spend 3 on a tshirt from primark. Its all down to quality, style, and suitability. Sometimes its better to spend more on an item of clothing if you know it is good quality, and looks smart .. and the opposite with fashion clothing you know will not be in fashion for very long.

They were great, I never had any :-(

What a sensible (and financially prudent) group we are !! Frankly as long as my clothes are clean and I feel comfortable in them that's the only thing that matters. I'm sure a lot of people buy expensive designer labels simply to boost their self esteem, but if you don't feel good about yourself inside, the most expensive clothes in the world won't help much, only mask the problem.

Keep on supporting the charity shops folks. At least you're doing somebody else a good turn and not lining the pockets of the retailers & manufacturers, (although I realise their employees have their mortgages to pay too!)

I bet if we all won the lottery we would be buying designer :-)
Never! Shell suits will never go out of fashion!

I had a bright pink shell suit with blue and black stripes. I've noticed that alo of portuguese in our town still wear them.
I had a black one with gold stripes down the side. It was lovely. Then I discovered cheap army surplus stores :o)
I actually think it's gone the opposite way now with girls with orange tans clad head to foot in dolce and gabbana, gucci etc with labels showing all over the place and looking as common as muck. You look better if you're not in designer gear.Even if you do have a gucci item or whatever it's so much classier if there isn't a great big flaming label struck all over it
Designer labels are designed for people with lots of money and very little sense. Designers must be thrilled that these unfortunates are walking around advertising for them without them having to pay them. I can't help feeling a bit sorry for people I see wearing labels ostentatiously. Quite sad really.
