I've been taking the pill now for 6 years. I probably won't want kids for another 5 years. Should i come off it to give my body a break or is there no harm on staying on it longer?

My opinion would be to come off it if you are not sexually active, and if you are only using it for contraception, not other purposes.

I believe the pill has side effects. Blood clots, depression etc.

I would want my hormones to function naturally for a while.

Just my opinion though, not a medical one.

i would assume if you didnt want kids then you would want to stay protected? theres no medical proof that taking the pill continuously for long periods of time causes an extra damage. there is no build up of anything in your body so it does not need a break fom it like some other contraceptions would need. try googling your question, and i believe all sites will say the same that you do not need a break. but as jedimistress said, if you are not sexually active then maybe it isnt needed anymore.

Thanks. I do have a boyfriend. I may ask my doctor to double check on everything (no offence to your good advice).
