a guy gives you his e-mail address. You e-mail him a few friendly lines. You hear nothing back and a few days pass. Do you e-mail again, or just go away and sit in a corner, feel a wee bit stupid and chalk it up to experience?

thanks guys! I'm not likely to see the guy, that's pretty certain. I guess he may have had second thoughts, maybe I should leave well alone. Shame tho, cos it was only a bit of friendly chat. Thanks again you two. x

Zorr0, you're a sharp phu kker, aren't you? You miss NOTHING! (ok, it wasn't the subtlest query I've ever made, but even so, i thought I'd get more than 4 posts in before being rumbled) Much as I'm trying not to, I'm laughing at you again today...ya bass!

Oh god, don't email him. If he's away for some reason and can't check his mail, finally logs on and sees 10 emails from you he's going to be running scared. It's the same as constantly phoning or texting someonewhen they don't answer/reply. Just don't. Step away from the computer and find something else to do.

Morris - thanks alot for your advice, I think I'll heed it.

Cautionary tale: when Mrs Pid & I started to see each other (before anything really happened) we emailed each other just a couple of times & then I heard nothing. After a week or so I was convinced she wasn't interested & assumed that was it.

Then just when I figured I wouldn't hear from her again I get an email at work - it later transpired that my personal (web-based) email account wasn't accepting emails from a handful of domains. The future Mrs Pid wondered why I'd suddenly stopped writing & decided to do a bit of detective work, track down my work email address & sent me a friendly but cautious email.

No idea what the reasons are for this guy not writing (may not have downloaded his emails, could be busy, could be ill, could have internet problems, could have changed his mind, could be away, etc) but all I know is if Mrs Pid hadn't taken a risk & sent that email, there would be no Mrs Pid or Pid Junior!

If you're not likely to see him you've got nothing to lose by waiting a day or so & sending another email. If that doesn't work just keep spamming him until he at least has the courtesy to reply!

if its been a bit of time, I email again, with the subect 'Test', Hi --------, if you recieve this, please reply. And I also ask for a 'read reciept', then leave it up to him.
Many people take AGES to reply to email. Same thing with texts. And I know men who are lovely and chatty yet they can only write 3 word texts!! Don't take it personally, you have done your bit- and you may get a reply- just be patient.
Simmer down woman!
Just wait.........or forward on a joke with no message to jog his memory!

If/when he does reply, he will say he had a problem with his computer. He will find you if he's interested, or if something has happened to stop him reading his emails.

If you have only emailed once so far, I would only do one more if you really want to. It could have automatically gone into his spam box I suppose.

Its not beyond the realms of possibilty that the email address he gave on hear is not his real email address :

A) It was a joke email address.

B) It is one he has set up specifically to get on here, not his normal one, so he can not tell unless he logs in to Hotmail, that he has mail.

C) As directed by AB regarding the policy of giving out email addresses, he set up a Hotmail address specifically for you to contact him, which he will then converse with you on to ensure he does not get unwanted spam by publishing his real email address on here. Once he has proven to himself it is you, he will supply you with his normal email address. Therefore as in B) he will not know he has mail until he logs into Hotmail, like I say which may not be his normal email provider.

Zorr0 - morning, how are you today? More laughs in store today I hope (along with the very serious business of answering questions with hard facts and numbers!!) Thanks so much for your replies, you're a star. I had considered the points you raised re e-mail addy etc....but really, I just posted this Q on here as a wee prompt, hoping to jog his memory. As I said, I knew I'd get rumbled, too many folk on the ball on this site for me not to, but thought it was hilarious that you'd put 2 and 2 together so quickly. All's well now, and I'll stop stalking him before he gets his enforcer on to me! (p.s. how did you know he said he'd look in his inbox? or are you just winding me up?)
