Sorry I can't help you because I found Tea Tree oil did cure mine. However, I was told that you need to apply it regularly for several weeks before it starts to make an impact and I did find this was the case. I suspect that because nails are quite hard it takes a long time before you notice the impact. Maybe if you ask your local pharmacist they can recommend something which works more quickly. They're pretty knowledgable about medications.

A chiropodist will put you in the right direction and give you a strong nail infection paint.

My partner had been given some very strong tablets by the docfor his toes and the side effects were rather unpleasant. Then, when we saw another doc. she had her shoes off and her toes were revolting too! she said she wouldn't take the tablets because she knew how bad they were!!!

On another point, from the chiropodist, he said don't tumble dry your socks and avoid yeast and vinegar products. Do stick with the tea tree aswell.....and see the foot guy/gal.

Don't take the tablets, they can cause Liver damage, and I don't think a gammy nail is worth risking that!

Go see you GP, he/she can prescribe a treatment which you paint on every day. Unfortunately it can take 9mths to a year to totally clear the infection (depends how fast your nails grow). I'm on it now and can see an improvement after only 2 weeks.

Sometimes they go away on their own, which is why people think all sorts of treatments work. There is no evidence that paint-on treatments work. Mine was treated with lamasil tablets, which are proven to work. There are possible side effects but I think none of them remain if you stop the drug.
