I was 59 at the time (I am male - not that that should make any difference) and had been very short sighted since early teens. I wore glasses until I was in my middle 20s and a combination of various contact lenses spectacles up until the eye surgery.
SPENDING SOME 1,800 POUNDS ON LASER SURGERY WAS THE BEST INVESTMENT I HAVE EVER MADE ( I thought I would put that in Caps just to re-enforce how good a move I think it was) and I only wish that it was available when I was younger. However I believe I am correct in saying the surgery may be even a little cheaper now than 4 years ago.
There are probably many questions that you would like to ask so please go ahead and I will do my best to answer them.
One thing I can say is that if you are long-sighted you are unlikely at the moment(in the UK at least) to be a candidate for laser surgery.
Strangely enough the best and quickest (almost immediately) recovery was in my case the right eye and it took longer (several weeks) for my left eye to catch up. In the long term my left eye is 20/20 but my right eye is not as good uness I keep it vey moist with viscotears. However I ain't complaining as I used to wear bottle-bottoms.
Because of anno domini I do use very low prescription glasses for some /sustained reading as it is a natural process to get a little more long sighted as one gets older.
