hey cutie, if your friend gets any worse this evening, ie: starts feeling sick/is sick, has back ache... go to A+E, do not wait. It sounds like a kidney infection. Call NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 that is the number.....

thank u beryllium, her mum's making her get an emergency appt. tomorrow but i wil let her know to go to a+e if she feels worse. she said she feels really ill already, bit worrying!

In the meantime tell her to drink as much water as she can so if it is an infection the water will help to flush part away, but you do have to drink a lot.

if her back is hurting quite low down, it could be a sign of kidney infection, but it's very probably just a UTI at the moment. That can still make you feel quite ill which isn't pleasant but it's not a reason to freak out. She shouldn't worry as it's very easy to treat with some antibiotics and she should start to get much better after seeing a doctor.

I realise that this is a female you're talking about, but just for info, if you're a male, then blood in the urine and pain in the lower back can be symptoms of prostate cancer.
