are aliens out there?

i think it would be ignorant if we,as a species,thought we were the only ones in the cosmos.I can remember my great aunt telling me that when she was young,the whole of the street came out to look at a green light that was swaying from side to side, and that was in 1920 something!!

I'd like to think there was something out there but it's kinda hard to judge unless you've seen it. There reports a little while ago about a bright triangle of orange light in the sky in loughton essex. My boyf and his mum saw it as they live there and said it was the weirdest thing ever. I'd like to see something to make me believe it though!!

I believe if there was aliens out there we would all know about it, i imagine it to be like 'independance day'. I can't believe that only 1 or 2 people at a time would see something, and always at night, and in some remote place, nah, if there was something out there they are certainly more intelligent than us and i really believe we would all know by now.

Lonnie, I work in a 200yr old boy's school which now is being used as a community centre, and is apparently haunted??, i'm the caretaker and am always really spooked when i have to go and lock up at night, but i had an idea to get a group of us to stay all night (bit like Most Haunted) to see if anything happens.. crazy eh?

I really do not believe in aliens. There was never any mention of them before the 1950s when the stories started up in America. It's all just the product of someone's overactive imagination.

Personally I think it's a little naive to think we are the only living things in the universe. The fact is we have only discovered a fraction of what we call the universe, so to think our little planet is the only one that could possibly sustain life, is frankly more far fetched than there actually being another planet somewhere with life on it. Chances are they just haven't evolved at the rate we have. Who says if there is life out there that it has to be intelligent ? What annoys me more than anything is people saying that such and such a planet could not possibly sustain any kind of life forms as there is no water or air or vegetation. These may be things that life forms on our planet need, but who's to say that's what an alien life form would need ?! We just dont know !!

Sorry, for getting a bit carried away, I'm certainly not a trekky or anything, but i find it incredibly hard to believe we are on the only planet with life, although it will probably be another hundred years or so before we have the technology to travel deep enough into space to find another............ And then we'll probably invade it !

Are we alone in the solar system? I think so

The really interesting question is are we alone in say a 10-20 light year radius? (that's about the nearest 100 stars)

We could just about have a meaningful radio communication with messages being exchanged every 10-20 years or so.

If it's any further away than that the chances are we'll never know.

As for alien spaceships and abductions? - beam me up Scotty!

we will be seeing aliens in less than 100 years, i would say the next 50 years and we would not need surfisticated technology to see them. they will be among us, speaking to us like ordinary people.

I think I would pretty much agree with Jake.

Given the vastness of the Universe, and the countless millions of stars/planets, it would seem highly likely that intelligent life has evolved elsewhere.

I don't believe they have ever visited here though, nor do I think there are any within communication range.

Thats my point guinnessman considering the enormity of the Universe, and we know for a fact there's no other life in our solar system, then if aliens have been spotted here they would have to be intelligent to have travelled such a distance. Anyhow,I believe our earth is actually the center of the Universe, cos it's soooo beautiful .
