you probably are over anxious about the silliest thing and crying at the even sillier things and letting yourself forget to care how you look. But I don't know really, not about a clinical breakdown.

your the last person to know, unfortunatly!!
I agree with rugeley about that, ofen other people see the signs but the sufferer is too focused on the things happening to them and trying to deal with it they do not recognise when to ask for help. I think.
when they put a shirt on you back to front, and take you away in the rubber van.but normally you know when its happening when; 1.the drink bottles empty.2.the pub shuts.3 waking up next to a soup dragon from the night before.they were my symptoms.oh and singing i will survive.

cant remember where i heard it, maybe a film??

something like "if you think your insane, your not insane as an insane person has got far better things to think about"............. maybe jack?

anyway, a breakdown is along the same lines as that!!!

You okay Whiskey..!
i had a breakdown so i called the aa not the AA but the! aa; THE AA would be no good if you need the aa, and likewise the aa would be no good if you needed the AA,.ended up in the AE looking for the aa,with a AA man?and you think your mad, im beyond the edge, and now im an ABer. who was in the aa and the AA (aa= alchoholics anonimous).

If you are asking for yourself whiskeysheri, then you're not as you would be in a different world - not in this one, and wouldn't be capable of any rational thinking.

Don't worry about breakdowns, clinical or otherwise, it just means the brain is on overload and this is the systems way of sorting it out - Also your intelligence is higher than most!

does that mean intelligence is a safe guard against breakdowns, or persons of a higher intelligence than others are more able to handle breakdowns?

cetti, that was a sweet thing to say to whiskey. are you ok whiskey? i have been told on a number of occasions by my various dox and therapists that if you think you are going or have gone mad, you haven't! If you had, you wouldn't know about it.

The symptons are v similar to anxiety and/or depression. I know! Symptons are not sleeping well, not eating, not wanting to go anywhere, talk to anyone, have a shower, do your hair etc. Crying at adverts (but I have always done that!) If you find you have stopped singing along to the radio or your cds isnt a good sign either so, bung on some barbara and let rip gal :) and smile, think happy thoughts and get out in the sun x

not out tonight then whiskey? hey hun :o)
Nice one poglet...(:-)

A breakdown is a general term with no specific meaning. It can refer to a depressive illness (change of sleep and appetite, low mood, hopelessness, worthless feelings), a panic attack (extreme fear of death or a nameless dread, with chest pain or numbness of hands), delirium tremens (seeing visions whilst withdrawing from alcohol), or a psychotic illness (strange ideas and loss of touch with reality). All of these are treatable. Sometimes someone who is not ill can think they are having a breakdown when they are just having a bad day.
Just to lighten things up a bit .................

a breakdown , and stress are very different .

so when i was having real family problems , and it seemed the whole world was against me , some clown in the town centre said , would you like to take a free stress test ??

at which point i pinned him against the wall , and screamed into his face ....IM NOT F***ING STRESSED .

when i got home i realised i probably was !!

Good job i was'nt having a breakdown then .

take friends and familys advice. if they say you need to see your doc perhaps they could be right.. people tend to come out of their own protecive shells when they can se a loved one suffering.

just my opinion, not the golden rule.

I've had 2 breakdowns WS. Mine were stress related, feelings of just not caring about anything, knowing you love your family yet cant care enough to show it,panic attacks, agoraphobia, wanting to sleep and literally hide under the duvet,no appetite and lack of self care (Personal hygiene). This is clinical depression/breakdown. Given the right help I've recovered both times. I try to remain positive these days:--))
i trust yr not havin one
