Fashion query

For a few years now, fashion has decreed that young girls display their tummies with T shirts and tops of low slung jeans always leaving a few inches exposed. Who started this trend? Was it one designer and the rest tagged on?

I think that's how most fashions start. On slim girls with flat tummies (oh, remember those days) it looks lovely, but when it's taken up by the ... err ... chubbier types, erlack!

What gets me is the need to show off the tops their thongs. They actually sell thongs decorated with trinkets and flags just for the showing off of. My god, if I thought my knickers were showing then I'd never go out!

For me it will always be Mel Blatt from Saints Aloud who started the trend when she was pregnant! That was when I first became aware of this look.

Its weird as this trend has certainly seemed to have passed its sell by date!

I hate this trend! My stomach deserves to remain covered but finding jeans/trousers and tops that actually cover it is a different matter - I spend most of the day pulling my t-shirt down!

that theo walcotts bird had her knickers showing over her jeans in the paper the other day not that i noticed i was doing the crossword at the time and i glanced up :)
