Baby scan

Not really a question, just wanted to share my low mood. My daughter is expecting her second baby in October, she went for a scan today and phoned me in tears because it didn't go well. The baby has a club foot, which is nothing to fret about, but they also found two tiny cysts of the brain. She has to go back tomorrow for a more in depth scan and an amnio test. We were all so happy, puts everything into perspective when something like this happens.

A lady at work has had a problem with a tumour in the baby's brain, which they are certain is benign, but they are inducing her next monday, she has had excellent care and advice and they are 95% sure after tests it will be fine. the things they can find out just by these scanning machines are amazing, tho she has had to travel to a special one in Sheffield for the main one.

It is good that they have found this earlky and it really should be fine! xx

i think you should remind your daughter that she is so lucky to be having a child, i honestly hope that everything goes well for her and the baby, but i am twenty five and me and my husband were told that we couldn't have kids as i do not produce eggs. i would give my left arm to have a child of my own, just let her know how lucky she is and wish her all the best from me

Fingers and toes crossed for you horselady - the doctors have soptted these little problems nice and early so im sure she will get the best attention and help possible,and go on to have a beautiful healthy baby in october.

can't add anything else other than what people have already put. i had queries over the scans of my second child i know how terryfying it is when some thing is wrong. he's now 2 1/2 and absolutely fine. my thoughts are with you, your daughter and the rest of the family, my fingers are crossed for you XXX

So sorry to hear of this horselady, but fetal medicine units are amazing today so you should get a very thorough diagnosis and really expert attention for your daughter and grandchild. Our older daughter had weekly scans as my wife had fifths disease when she was pregnant and she developed fluid around the heart. The staff were amazing and very very sympathetic, so I'm sure you'll recieve the same excellent treatment we did, and our little girl was fine by the way.We're all thinking of you.
