hi there,
i was wondering can anybody tell me any information about ulcers.i think i may have one but not really to sure, i had my gallbladder removed a few years ago and ever since that i have never been the same , when i wake up in the mornings i get a burning feeling in the middle of my chest, and when it gets bad enough it actually goes through into my back , very very painful.it actually feels like i am having another gallstone attack , but i know this is not possible as i dont have my gallbladder.
i was advised by a friend to drink milk that would make the problem go away short term , and i started drinking lots of millk and the pain goes away within 1 min or so , but i also get a bloated stomach , then comes pain associated with that too.
when i eat something i tend to feel alot better , if i take medication for my migraines that has codeine in it within 30 mins i am in servere burning pain , until i grab the milk.
can anyone tell me if they have had any past experinces with ulcers or the after affects of having a gallbladder removed?
thanks

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I have had two life-threatening episodes with (in my case, bleeding) ulcers. I didn't have bloating, nor, any symptoms at all until I was so weak that I could hardly stand up, and (it's embarrassing to discuss this) was bleeding from the rectum.
You really need to get to a doctor and get some medication. I had 5 pints of blood transfused into my body on each occasion, and I'm quite small and we only have 7 pints to begin with.
I'm in Canada, so the medication I am taking may be called something differerent in England, but I take Pantoloc, and I have been informed that I will need to take it for the rest of my life.
Most ulcers are caused by a bacteria called helicobater pylori. You can take a blood test or a breath test to see whether or not that's true for you.
It's been several years since I was in England, but can you buy Rolaids or Tums over the counter? If you can, get some as temporary relief until you can see a doctor.
Another cause of stomach or abdominal pain is NSAids,(Non-Specific Anti Inflammaflatories, such as Aspriin, stop taking them immediately. Can you buy acetomiphen (Teyenol) over the counter? That will help with the pain in the short term; however, you cannot drink alcohol with it because it will wreak havoc with your kidneys.
Please get to a doctor as fast as you can.
